A female-to-male transgender member of the George Washington women's basketball team wants to be identified as a man this season.
If "it" wants to be identified as a man, then what is "it" doing playing woman's basketball where everyone else is a woman?!
GW has been supportive during this transition. This means a lot. I didn't choose to be born in this body and feel the way I do
I didn't choose to come into this world from a middle-income family, shorter than 6'4", and the genetics less than Roman gladiator, but you don't see acting crazy.
it bothered me to hide who I am
You are who we thought you are - a woman.
Allums "has informed the university that he will not begin any medical or drug protocols while a student-athlete. The university consulted the NCAA regarding his competitive status. Kye will continue to be a member of the women's basketball team."
I have no problem with "him" playing women's collegiate basketball. "He" is "still" a girl, and therefore is physically enhanced as such.
I have no problem with "Kyle" (or anyone else for that matter) "transgendering." Do i agree with it? Hell no; but at the end of the day, it's their decision - it's their body, their life, their whatever. Do what you want - just don't bring it into others arenas and expect that everything is going to be honkeydori. It doesn't work that way.
"She" can live "her" life as a "he." But the minute "she" starts bringing that into the public domain where there are lines, such as sports, between men vs men sports and women vs women sports, "her" crap doesn't fly anymore. "She's" making the choice, and by making that choice, "she" is forfeiting some of her "rights."
