So the matchup this week is last year's Capital One Mascot Challenge Champion The Bearcat of the University of Cincinnati vs. last year's Capital One Mascot Challenge Write-In Champion Brutus Buckeye of The Ohio State University. Should be interesting to see who pulls this one out.

Picking the right mascot for Ohio today was a lot easier than it's going to be to pick the right governor for Ohio tomorrow.

If you look at the votes both the Bearcat and Brutus are in the 80k vote range. No other mascot is even close to that. The winner of this matchup is probably gonna be the champ.

Actually ODU is the overwhelming leader in votes and is undefeated. The vote totals are just from this weeks matchup. Brutus is currently in 4th place and the Bearcat is currently in 7th place.

Both teams may get more votes this week than the bottom three mascots have gotten all season long (9 weeks worth) WOW

I also believe that the fan vote only accounts for 50% of how they actually choose the mascot. I remember a couple of years ago hen Brutus was up for this he got the most votes by a ton and didn't win. I think that things like how the mascot represents the school, community involvement, and stuff like that makes up the rest.
