So I just hit my goal of 100lb loss. I started back in January, and that's a relatively short time for that much loss. My question is this, now what? I have some loose skin around the spare tire area, and I've been doing abs literally 6 days a week, and not doing much help. Is there any other ways to get ride of that, or surgery the only option? I know I'll get the occasional "Cool Story Bro" comments, but I know there are a decent number of people on here who seem to have some useful knowledge on working out. Thanks.

I would think that you can tighten up some of that loose skin. I'm not an expert on this but I think the best way to avoid something like this is to lose weight slowly. Since that option is out the door I would just continue to try to tighten up your core, I dont think I would be doing abs 6 days a week either. I would give it a year, if you dont see the results that you want by then I would consider surgery.

Congrats on the weight loss

Abs are muscles too. They need time to recover. 6 times a week is too much.

Yeah i was going to say. 6 times a week is too much. You should know that if you are doing ab ripper x. He says so on the end of the video.

Anyway, this link might help http://www.ehow.com/how_2135049_loose-skin-after-weight-loss.html

That link should be helpful. Like scarring you should wait a while before considering surgery.

Yea well I figured since I stopped getting sore, I'd up the days of Ab Ripper. Probably dumb thinking, but hell...I hit my goal.

Eat alot of stuff with iron in it. Green leafy vegies like spinach has tons of it in there. I have heard it works good but have never tried it. I am down 60 pound since may so i have to same issue with extra skin. I have been pretty steady at 60 losing a few here and there. Only thing is Im not working out. Its my new job is just that physical

Add cardio. Even if at the beginning it's only 30 minutes a workout three times a week. Start off all walking if necessary, slowly add some jogging.
Walk uphills if necessary. You want to keep your heart rate and breathing at whats called "conversation pace" as in you can still talk and carry on a conversation while jogging without gasping for air.

Stay off the sidewalks. Cement is 10%'s harder then asphalt. Best is on the side of the road gravel/dirt or on the grass. Be willing to visit a real running store (not Dicks or Footlocker at the mall) and get fitted with some properly fitting running shoes.

If around Columbus, the store "Front Runner" on Lane Ave is great.

I appreciate the info...buuuuuuut I'm definitely already doing the cardio. Up to about 7mi/day. I was running in some awful Underarmor shoes, just thought a shoe was a shoe was a shoe when it came to running. I just bought some new Asics, and it's like running on air. I love them, a good fitting comfortable running shoe makes a huge difference.

Benny - if the skin has lost its elasticity (likely if you carried the weight for many years or are older), there aren't any effective non-surgical alternative available right now. Exercise, while very important, "only" tightens up the underlying muscles. Talk to your doctor.

Do you have the rest of the P90X? I'd follow that except insert your running on kenpo days and add it again on the chest & back day.

I've heard that surgical scar is a pretty nasty one from an abdominal tightening. You really don't want to have to go that route.
