it'd be ironic if some regular American guy went vigilante style in Yemen and Afghanistan and just randomly killed muslims the way terrorists do (or try to do) Americans..
i guess what i'm saying is, i'd support reverse terrorism.

This was probably a trial run to test our securities. I agree with fab,we need to take the gloves off and fuck these people up rather than allowing them to build their mosques in our cities.

Breaking news that figter jets are escorting a passenger airliner from the UAE (bound for Canada?) to JFK. Obama to address the nation at 4:15 EST.
Why would you be escorting a jet to JFK? Why not a more remote airbase? I suppose if it's a big honking Airbus A380 there might not be airports with runways large enough to land.

looks like emirates air flight 201
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAE201
looks like a 777 not a airbus 380.
one a side note the air bus 380 is an awesome plane to fly on.

Shit....The US fighter jets picked-up the escort that was handed off to them by Canadian fighter jets. Flight originated from UAE is all that's known. 30 minutes outside of JFK.

I'd suggest, before this goes further, to move this to the politics forum.
But, not a surprise. AQ in Yemen has been really active the last year or so.
Also, that AQ continues to attack airplanes.

Reason for the interest in this airliner is it has packages from Yemen aboard.
Knock on wood, but so far it seems like the international intelligence agency is doing its job. A little unnerving, however, that the screening failed and this has been kicked off by a tip. I suppose that's how things are supposed to work, but wow.

Maybe it is a tip to divert our attention from a real terrorist attack/issue/problem?? We will know soon I guess...gut;537426 wrote:Reason for the interest in this airliner is it has packages from Yemen aboard.

This shows me three things.
1. AQ in Yemen has coordinated and executed complex operations. Yemen is a real concern that needs explored
2. U.S. intelligence worked in the sense we sniffed out and located the operation before it could be fully executed.
3. Terrorism and foreign policy remains an issue.

No, foreign policy is not an issue! Way on the backburner.
I think I remember some people saying that the other day.

It's going to take a while for those people to get their bags.

I believe those people thought that the economy was or should be first. And seeing as how our intelligence is doing it's job while other factions of government isn't... those peeps might be on to something.I Wear Pants;537467 wrote:No, foreign policy is not an issue! Way on the backburner.

I was joking. The economy is still the number one issue. I just thought the timing of this was funny.
