In light of the season and all of the morbidly fantastic movies playing on TV.

Poll to follow shortly.

My vote goes to Freddy because he gets you when you are sleeping and most vulnerable!

This poll is bull without the "I voted for this just because I like to vote on things" option.

Ed Gein. His true story is the basis for buffalo bill (Silence of the Lambs), leatherface, and Norman Bates.

I had nightmares about Michael Myers for like 25 years.

The single scariest horror movie moment for me was when Jason (as a boy) came up out of the water and grabbed the girl at the end of Friday the 13th, but after that he was kinda tame. That moment is what made me love horror movies, though.

If they were all real, I'd probably most want to avoid Leatherface. At least most of the other slashers kill you quickly. I prefer not to be chopped up and made into soup while still conscious.

There is an awesome documentary on him on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake dvd.

Scariest was Candyman....from this poll I would say Michael Myers.

You're never more scared of movie villains than when you are a little kid and the scariest byatch on wheels was Cruella DeVille.

Supernatural villans such as the Devil in the Exorcist are at the top for me. Perhaps the scariest movie I ever saw was a movie called Event Horizon which came out around 1997. It starred Sam Neil (Jurassic Park) and it was about a crew out in space who basically are portaled into a hell-like demension. That movie to me was much scarier than a Freddy, Jason or Michael.

THIS with a capital T.

For me, it's the ones that are most realistic aka leatherface imo. I don't know if this counts, but Potato Sack face from Strangers was probably it for me, because you can easily see that happening.

When I was smaller, Jason always scared me the most. There was just something awful about that hockey mask. It's amazing now how bad most of those movies are, and I'm a bit ashamed of myself now for ever being afraid of that guy.

Norman Bates or Leatherhead because it is/they are the most realistic. Realistic is Pscho, Texas Chainsaw is true.

by the way

"Burnt Offerings" has the additional interest of seeing an entirely used up Bette Davis chewing the scenery in her old age.

I voted for Jason. Maybe depends on the first horror movies you watched or what was popular when you were young enough to be scared.

Aliens was pretty bad ass first time I saw it. I was also older when Predator came out. Watched it by myself at home one night and that was the first movie that scared me in a long time. Little odd when you think about it because those two are the most unrealistic of the bunch. Even Jason became supernatural, and I supposed Mike Myers, too. But if you were watching the first Halloween, Mike Myers was actually the guy who could have been standing outside your window. I suppose early Jason, too.

And Ed Bein was a real dude, so that's disturbing.
