It is already tomorrow here in Singapore and so far, the world isn't ending.
Two things:
1) that is one long-assed flight from the U.S. east coast - 20 hours.
2) this has to be the hottest/most humid major world city. Walking out of the airport at midnight local time it was like getting slapped by a blow drier with its hottest setting with 90% humidity in the air.

Indeed, don't want to get a caning. They are pretty strict about drugs here too.
That said, this is the cleanest big city I've been to, the bathrooms at the airport are as nice as Four Seasons hotel public restrooms, makes me want to slap the janitorial staff at Newark Liberty. Also from our hotel room and the business area, there is new construction every which way you look - impressive, and also very scary.

Isn't Singapore (Economically speaking) the freest country in the world, or is that Hong Kong? Meaning, they are the closest to a pure free-market on a free market/directed continuum.

You're thinking of Thailand, I'm guessing prostitution isn't smiled upon here. Anyway, it is a lot like NYC minus all the garbage on the street (there really is none) and homeless people (again, none), and obviously a lot more Asians.
