I am thinking about getting one but have no idea where to start. What are the best brands and the best places to have them installed? I live near Akron but am also in Columbus at least twice a month.

Honestly fab4...the best place in the state to get it done is just south of you. Horizon audio in Belden Village....everyone in the area goes there. Only problem is that there could be a significant wait.

Also, prices can vary...and not all cars are easily compatible with remote starters. I had one on my G6. Loved it. I want to get one on my Jeep, but I'm too lazy to do it.

Lol cats and I don't live together or I'm sure he would do it. I've always wanted one but my last car was a POS so I never wanted to spend the money on it. I have a 1999 Camry...I'll have to do some research and see what it will cost. I really think it will be worth it regardless. Living in the snow belt sucks!

I dunno about canton, but the one in alliance was notorious for installing your system then stealing it out of your car a week later.

...never thought heated seats would be of interest to me in a car until I bought one with them. I love them now in winter time.

I am guessing that's why you are interested in a remote starter.....to heat the interior up during winter.

Correct. It would also be nice if my windows were a bit easier to scrape.

Stay away. They've done 3 installation jobs for me and screwed up every one.

Bought one for my wife's car at Best Buy in Hilliard/Dublin last year. Be sure to get the two-way-communication capability - it lets you know that the car started successfully and if it's still running. It also reminds you if it's been left running for more than ten minutes, and lets you shut off remotely if needed.

Note: if you wait until the holidays, Best Buy's installation appointments get backed up by several weeks.

Never thought we'd get one, but for logistical reasons she could not park in our garage last winter - I didn't want her 5'4" frame climbing around on an ice/snow covered SUV trying to scrape the windows by herself at 6 am. Purely by coincidence (cough, cough), it also means --I-- don't have to crawl out of bed at 6 am to go do it for her. :P
