I'll be going there next month with a few buddies. I realize it's not the greatest hotel in Vegas, but it's cheap and in a good location.

Anyone have any valuable info for me about the Imperial or just Vegas in general?

Hash House a Go Go. I'd eat every meal there if I stayed at the IP.

Cheapest midnight buffet on the Strip...and it ain't bad either. Stayed there 2 yrs ago and the rooms were small and dated but they were clean. You're not gonna impress high roller chicks by hauling them back the IP but the skanks won't care.

Stay away from Treasures the ladies there will take your soul and all, but I've heard good things about Speariment Rhino. Check out the club Tao its a krazy scene, but don't go to LAX too many fatties there. On another note $100 on black at the Tropicana is where its at.

Depends on what you're going to do - central location is obviously a good thing. For a similarly priced hotel in that area, I prefer the Flamingo...but in Vegas there isn't going to be a whole hell of a lot of difference (and if you're spending much time in your room, you should probably try a different vacation anyway).

I had a good run of going to Vegas 5 or 6 times a year not too long ago, but slowed down in the last two years. My personal favorite place is the Luxor - its at the far end though if you're going to be walking to a lot of different places.

If you're going to clubs and there's nothing in particular you have as a must do, look for the freebies. Every club has free passes on a particular night, so grab a flyer and plan your week around those - the only catch to those is its usually kind of an early bird type thing...like maybe you can only get in free between 10-12. And drink heavily in your room (or gamble a lot to get the free drinks) instead of waiting to catch your buzz in the club (you're gonna go $10 for an 8-oz beer at any halfway decent place). Or...find yourself a local who can get you on the VIP list (a lot of places have cut back on that, but I did get into Tao and XS (which a lot of people like - I kind of hated it) last year doing that.

Be prepared to wait on elevators. I stayed there in '09 and the service was slow, just a bad experience. The place is a dive, but centrally located on the strip. If you like to play poker, MGM grand has a good morning tourney that is $70 to enter and pays out~ $1500 to the winner.

Pretty much nails my experience at IP in 2006. I don't think I gambled a single dollar in the place, but it's a great location.

The elevators are famously slow, but there is another set near the back that are much faster.

Check out www.cheapovegas.com for some various tips and humorous takes on all the different hotels.
