I'd would love to see the Yankees aquire a great pitcher like Cliff Lee...He has so much talent in his pitches and throws as about as hard as anyone in the Majors. Do thje Yankees make a move and get him...Roy Halladay is another good pitcher...you're thought?

This doesn't make any sense at all.

Is this post from 2 years ago?

If anything, they'd get Lee in the offseason, which is in the winter.

The Yankees are probably kicking themselves now because they didn't offer Seattle more than Texas, but as a free agent probably back together with CC:)

Lee wanted to go to teh Yankees earlier this year. He was dissapointed when he landed in TX. He pitched well agianst better teams during the season, showcasing himself for the Yanks. He geared it up for the Yanks last night. Of course he will be with the Yankees next year...no brainer.

Any chance the Indians could get him back?....any chance the Indians could have had a shot at retaining him? Any chance the Indians could have both Lee and Sabathia? No No and No.
Until baseball gets its act together and ends the skewing of the market to NY....forgive me if I'm not impressed with the Yankees 20+ titles and their yearly ticket to the playoffs.

Is Randy Johnson a free agent they could pick up over the summer? I know his best days are behind him but he could still be affected....They definatley need some stronger pitching

Oh it's a huge crock the way thay it is set up, but because that's how it is he'll get some huge deal and be in New York next year.

Good not great. DiBiasio has said they got along and would joke in the clubhouse and were always talking. But they never went out togwether and hung out outside of baseball much.

Not to be sterotypical, but I do wonder how much the culture mightve had to do with the not hanging out outside of baseball. Lee is a southern dude and CC is a black guy from Cali.

Should be an interesting off season not only for this situation but around baseball. this actually came up on one of the recaps I saw last night, when Nolan Ryan was asked how much it would take to hold onto Cliff Lee. He said in so many words, "Ask the Yankees."

The way baseball is currently setup, it maximizes profits for the owners. Sure the fans might not like it, but the Indians ownership is perfectly content cashing their checks.

Very true. If a team wants to win, they will end up being successful. They just have to put together a good front office and go after players. It isn't like the Yankees are winning the WS every year. You can see the difference between the teams that want to win and those that like to make money before a single ticket is sold.

The money that small market owners are making 'profit' wouldn't be enough to buy one decent free agent let alone someone like Lee or Sabathia. the best a small market team can hope for is to put together a bunch of young players that mature and get good enough to make the playoffs before they have to pay them.

To the guy that said Cliff "amped" it up because he was showcasing himself for the Yankees.

8-0 1.26 ERA

Dudes post season numbers. I think last night was just par for the course. Am I the only one who can't figure out why Eric Wedge didn't throw him in the post season when we had CC and Fausto? He came back late in the year, him and Eric weren't friends, but he was pitching well even that year.

Find the article where some of the financial statements were released earlier this season and it will make sense to you. Some of the small market teams who cut payroll are making more profit from receiving revenue sharing than some of the teams with higher salaries that pay into the revenue sharing.

I consider myself I pretty knowledgable baseball fan and even have my own trivia I do on here from time to time....but who is Cliff Lee?

The Yankees typically only go after the big guys. Who does Cliff Lee even play for?

Nope. Randy Johnson just signed a 6 year 100 Mill contract with Kansas City. The yanks will probably be forced to go after Hideo Nomo with all they have.
