Biggest thing I took from this article is that Verizon's CDMA network will allow simultaneous voice/data use within the 1st half of 2011. That's huge.

Link is broken.

Also, I never got why simultaneous voice and data was a big deal. I have to believe that only roughly 5% of people would ever even use voice and data at the same time. Hell, hardly anybody uses the voice feature on their phones anymore.

There is going to be a Verizon Iphone when Steve Jobs says there is. Speculating before then is stupid and people have been saying that it's coming out "soon" for years.

Link works fine for me.

It's coming...and will probably be out by 2Q or 3Q next year. The fact that Verizon will have the iPad on October 28th is a damned good indication that they will also have an iPhone next year. Don't look for it this year, and don't look for it 1Q next year (Verizon would never cut their Christmas sales from under themselves like that). But it's not stupid to speculate based on market information.

And don't be surprised with Sprint releases an iPhone at the same time or shortly after Verizon does.

Definitely coming....Android is taking over the market so Apple needs to expand(even though they are still ahead)

Exactly^

The fact that Verizon will be offering the iPad told me all I neeeded to know. They'll be getting the iPhone.

I hope Sprint gets it as well, I mean, I love Android, but having the option would be nice.

If Verizon gets it I'd be shocked if Sprint didn't.

It'll be good for the consumer if they all have it because then they'll have to compete based on coverage and price instead of "look I'm the only one with x phone".

It's definitely coming. Once Verizon got the iPad all speculation about "if" changed to "when" because there's no way Verizon would have agreed to sell the iPad without also getting the iPhone.

And Mooney, what do you mean no one uses the voice feature on their phones that much anymore anyway? People don't make calls on their phones? I understand that texting has certainly replaced some calls, but many people are replacing their home phones and going completely cellular. Heck, I sent/received nearly 1,000 texts in December, and spent over 1,200 minutes talking on my phone. Trust me, people still use their voice plan plenty.

If you're talking on bluetooth it's pretty easy to be checking/writing emails or browsing.

Press conference on Tuesday and all signs point to an announcement of the VZW IPhone. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing about it.
