INF/OF Jordan Brown, who led the International League in hitting with a .336 average last season, was one of seven players added to the Indians’ 40-man major league roster. The others were LHP Kelvin De La Cruz, RHP Jeanmar Gomez, INF Carlos Rivero, INF Jason Donald(notes), INF Wes Hodges, and OF Nick Weglarz.

Rule5 draft coming up.

but after looking up some these guys, I don't think some of these guys are eligible so I'm not sure why they felt it necessary to add them to the roster. I would thiunk the team would go into the winter meetings looking for a few pick ups, and would need some roster spots open to participate.

With all the millions saved by Paul Dolan when he ran his little fire sale last summer, they must surely be saving it to sign somebody really BIG.....somebody that will pick this team up on his shoulders and carry us to the promised land!

I think Dolan may have been onto something...

Looks like a WS ring is coming to Cleveland.

I love the eternal optimism of Indians fans. How long do these "franchise savers" usually stay in Cleveland? We can all mention an entire team of all world players currently in the majors who at one time or another donned the Indian uniform. Smaller market teams can't keep their stars for very long because others offer better long term deals and you know the old saying as well as I do. "Money talks and bull%$%# walks." I hope that Cleveland has a much better year and they may but don't expect miracle purchases to put the Tribe over the top. I've been a Tiger fan primarily, but have lived in Ohio since 1954 and have also been an Indians follower of sorts. People like announcer Jimmy Dudley, Colavito, Narleski, Avila, Lemon, Garcia, Hegan, Score, and all the others were household words at my house. I would like to see them improve but they will really surprise me if they enter the market and spend gobs of money on players. It would be so out of character...

The tribe will not be buyers this year nor will they be winners, I believe we are falling back to the 70's and 80's type of Indian's teams that were nothing but crap!! We couldn't even get a good manager in place of Wedge, what make people think were are going to buy some players? Unless we get some players I see this team losing 100 games this year!! Just My Opinion.

hotrod, I'm afraid you may be right. The Indians could be in for a very long season next year if they don't make some player moves that will have a major impact on the team's effectiveness on the field. They can't win with their current lineup.

ugh...I was kidding about them spending money to get a player. They won't even spend $1.5 million on Jamie Carrol. Every thing that could have dumped has been dumped. It's bargain basement all the way, and major league minimums. Basically, they'll spend to keep Sizemore another year, but I fully expect Peralta to be exited by the end of the season for a dozen balls, a cup of coffee(Seattle's Blend?), and a single A pitcher with arm problems. Hafner is untradable unless he gets back to form(lol)...and if he does, he'll be traded to. Same with Westy, who is a solid #3 pitcher coming off surgery. Everybody else doesn't cost anything (yet). If all goes as hoped, they might have a shot at contention before they have to dump Sizemore.

Westbrook makes way too much money for a #3 starter on any team, let alone a small-mid market one. If we could move him I'd do it in a heartbeat.

It doesn't matter though. I see somewhere between 4 and 7 wins next season. But on the bright side, now that Wedge is gone a few of them might come in April!
