Very preliminary, more might come out. Howland and UCLA look to be pretty clearly in the wrong. Clark Kellogg has to know better. Could paint a bad picture for OSU when it might not have been OSU at all.

Not sure it would paint that bad of a picture. Probably a minor violation at worst. Bit surprising that Kellogg would do this being in the position he is in. But I also have no doubt that former players being involved in recruiting goes on quite a bit around the country.

I read something on the Dispatch.com about this, and am not sure if it was printed or not. But Kellogg denied ever persuading a kid to pick one school over another. He said he loves his alma mater, but would never try to influence Ohio State over another, and for some reason I believe him.
But yes, it would be a secondary violation, and yes, it happens often. I think the football team just got in trouble for it, as a former player called a potential recruit to talk up Ohio State.

Im sure it goes on all the time. But when you are more than just a former player, in this case a CBS broadcaster, you have to know better. Basically eliminate yourself from these conversations.
I say paint a bad picture, because while it is only a secondary violation, it is still a violation which OSU had no part in.
