BASCOM -- Hopewell-Loudon turned in a strong defensive effort against one of the top offensive teams in the Midland Athletic League Friday night, slowing down Seneca East in a 40-14 victory.

The Chieftains held the Tigers scoreless in the second half as they contained a Seneca East team that was second in the league in offensive output.

Tyler Tyree threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter, including a 48-yard scoring strike to Logan Sendelbach, as H-L jumped in front 12-7 and never looked back en route to its 10th consecutive win over the Tigers.

The Chieftains (5-2, 2-2 MAL) finished with 441 yards of offense and part of the reason for their success was the fact that Tyree did not throw an interception. Tyree came into the game with 10 interceptions on the season.

Tyree finished the night 16 of 32 passing for 269 yards. Sendelbach caught 10 passes for 158 yards. He had four TD receptions as well.

Seneca East (4-3, 2-2) finished with 198 yards. It gained all of its yards on the ground.
