Really, really surprised to see that. I thought Scientology was virtually dead.

That is all.

I've seen those commercials also. Perhaps that's why there are so many of them... trying to gain attendance.

I haven't seen it. I may start watching more.

Scientology is no longer "cool". Tom Cruise needs to have more freak-outs in order to get it more publicity.

Scientology isn't cool. Never was, never will be. Dangerous group of people. They've killed several of their own by denying them medical care or putting hits out on them for leaving Scientology after reaching a level of Operating Thetan in which they know everything is bullshit. It's all a means to make money, and anyone who threatens Scientologists from getting that money is subject to being killed by their rules. There's plenty of info out there about it. Go look up Mark Bunker - he's got the most complete information out there to fight against the Co$.

Still nowhere close to the amount of death other religions have caused. I think Scientologists are just as whacko as every other religion, but I like that they exist because they prove no matter how dumb a story/religion is people will believe it. I think if people actually stepped back and realized some of the stories of the bible are no more insane than Scientology's, they could possibly be saved from ignorance. But alas, that'll never happen, but in a perfect world it would.

Yeah, we all know that Scientology cannot stand by itself while discussing it!

True to an extent, and trust me - I'm not into any religion, but this is a bit more obviously a scam. Hard to classify them as a religion if you ask me.

What do you think makes them a scam?

I don't see how its any different than say Catholicism. The only difference is Catholicism has been established for thousands of years and has the money/infrastructure already set up, Scientology only costs money now because they need it to spread the word of Xenu.

People don't like to associate their religion with Scientology but it is a religion and has almost the exact same characteristics.

Nobody at the head of Catholicism ever made claims such as "the best way to make money is to start a religion," nor were they science fiction authors. And honestly...a bunch of souls flown through space in vehicles that looked like golden DC-8's with rocket engines then dropped in volcanoes? REALLY? REALLY??? For that matter, has anyone else seen what is learned at Operating Thetan level 8? It pretty much says "You've been duped. Thanks for the money."

I'll ignore your first sentence because that's largely propaganda. Also, can you prove that the bible was not written by a science fiction author?

And for your second point, every religion has things that are stupid or out there. Ever read the bible? Jonah living in a whale, the plagues of Egypt, the flood, the talking snake...etc. I mean seriously? I mean REALLY?

What's worse? Being duped? Or being duped and not even realizing it?

Do you know how much money the Catholic church currently has? It is the biggest racket on the planet.

The authors of the Bible may not have been authors, but they wrote a great piece of fiction.

I've always found it funny that people classify Scientology as crazy but they believe a woman turned into a pillar of salt or people marched around a city and brought down the walls or a dead man rose from the grave or a prophet flew to heaven on his fairy unicorn.

I've never known enough about Scientology to criticize it, to be honest, and I've kind of found people in a similar boat than me. I've literally never paid attention to it, people say that it made Tom Cruise crazy, but no way, man. He was crazy before.

Vanilla Sky, bro. Vanilla Sky.
