*** The Pickerington Tigers are 3-0 in league play.
The Groveport Madison Cruisers will have their toughest test to date this year come this Friday night. Tough enough to play a road game in the OCC Ohio. Tougher still to do it AT Pickerington Central's "Keaton Anderson Stadium" and play on "Brad Harris Field". But the toughest yet is to do so against the currently number 5 team in the state. And a TEAM that seems to be hitting on all cylinders.
The Cruisers are coming off of a Homecoming Game victory over the Newark Wildcats, by the score of 35-12. That total helped to increase the average margin of victory up to 7 points (29-22). They'll need to play an amazingly tight and focused game if they are going to overcome the odds, the environment and the Tigers on Friday.
As for those Pickerington Central Tigers, they have been a well-oiled machine, playing as a unit, since the first game of the season. To give a piece of datum to back this claim, the Tigers do NOT have one player listed among the leaders in the areas of passing, rushing and receiving. However, somewhere around number 15, they do have one player listed for scoring... That would be Speedy Hammond. What does this mean??? It means that eleven members are playing as one unit, especially when you consider that this team that lacks an area leader has put up 187 points (to an opposing 22!!!). This means they have a number of weapons - and are using them - instead of one person shouldering the load.
While the odds seem stacked against the Cruiser - and the rest of the OCC Ohio - this Friday night at 7:30pm at Keaton Anderson Stadium, two teams will face off in a test of wills.
Good luck, Tigers and Go CRUISERS!!!!!!!
