With the 100th anniversary just four weeks away I am trying to gauge the interest level of a pre-game get together at my house. I live approximately a mile from the stadium and was thinking of doing hot dogs etc. late in the afternoon so we can still get to the stadium early.

If you are interested let me know. If no one is interested or just a small handful is interested I will probably scrap the idea.

Attendance is not limited to just Wooster or Orrville fans, anyone planning on attending the game is welcome.

I will have to put on my bullet proof vest from some of the comments I've made lately considering the coaching staff. I'd love to do a get together, but probably can't until at the stadium or something. Great idea though!

At the stadium would be cool. Rush for seats will be crazy, but no reason we all can't get together and shake hands.

Tailgate in the parking lot, I think there is too much going on to have it outside of there. It be fun to see some people face to face.

CC, You have never seen tailgating until you see the moving camp ground that Genoa brings. Unreal the amount of tailgaters they have...very rude I might add.

I saw the jabroni's last year tailgating it up....blasting the Vanilla Ice music. I just laughed at them on the way to the game, and especially on the way back after the game!

And tell everybody that it's NOT the Centennial game. We had that in 2003! (just a little historical point). However, good thought, Ringz!

Oh I know CC, it was ridiculous! But I loved seeing the tears and silence after the game!

BRF...you're right...as always.

centennial:
# (a.) Relating to, or associated with, the commemoration of an event that happened a hundred years before; as, a centennial ode. - NO
# (a.) Happening once in a hundred years; as, centennial jubilee; a centennial celebration. - NO
# (a.) Lasting or aged a hundred years. - NO
# (n.) The celebration of the hundredth anniversary of any event; a centenary. - NO

Good catch.

Dont know why they didn't just call it the '100th game.'

Did you also know that Doylestown/Rittman and Doylestown/Dalton have played more games in their series than Orr/Woo? Both are over 100 games I think.

Each started about 20 yrs after Orr/Woo in 1903, but both series played 2 games per year against each other until the WCAL was formed in the 50's.

So it's factual to call Orr/Woo the county's oldest rivalry, but not the longest running.

Game starts at 7:30 on Sat. and former players who want to be on the field have to be at the stadium at 6:30. It will be cutting it close if you try to meet before the game, but it sounds like Ringz house is close by.

Chipp/Rittman started in 1923, Chipp/Dalton in1925 , and with playing 2 games a year before the WCL , they are around 111 and 109 games each series.

You have to be careful, though, because a book like that is so interesting that it could cause hemorrhoids! ;-)

I have....digitally.

Trust me....if money was no object, I'd do it.

And I met the author a few years ago. He had a few pristine copies left in his attic. Snagged them both and gave 1 away to a relative.

We met in the old Hawkins Grocery parking lot....felt like a drug deal was going down. :)
