So I want mangina fired after the season, he just isn't good...What are some of the options heading into next year that everyone likes? Or do you like mangina as the browns coach for next season? Hopefully we fire our offensive coordinator immediately, he needs to go to his room

Womangini is the better nickname imo. Also, prepare for "only three weeks in and clowns fans are already discussing a new coach. Way to go holmgren. hahahahahah."

As for the topic, Womangini was the worst hire. I still can't believe Lerner rushed to hire him, when he had all the time in the world to evaluate better candidates. Not only did the hire fuck us over with the coaching staff, but it also fucked our future talent (piss poor drafting by womangini), and prevented us from getting Scott Pioli as our general manager. The Browns would have been much better off with Pioli as the gm. Weiss could be our coordinator right now. As for who I want next, I am not sure if I want a college coach. It normally doesn't work for their first try in the NFL (see: spurrier, davis, saban, etc).

My wish list would be Cowher, Dan Reeves, Schotenheimer, Gruden, or Holmgren decides to take over as coach. I know that list is wishful thinking, so if that doesn't work out I say hire a highly regarded offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator.

On a side note, if the 49ers continue to play like shit, I say the Browns hire Singletary as a part of their coaching staff. If that means firing Ryan from his DC position, then so be it. I think Rob Ryan is way overrated as a defensive coordinator anyway.

Rob Ryan is far from overrated. The defense is playing at a very good level.

When you score a total of 7 2nd half points in 3 games, yet you're in EVERY game, I think the defense deserves a lot of credit... Especially with how much time they see on he field.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gruden. Jim Harbaugh is intriguing as well.

If they don't do a better job with talent evaluation, it won't matter who is coaching.

Agreed. The draft is the major problem.

Although, the playcalling sucks as well.

I don't think the draft has been a problem for 2 seasons now.

This years draft is going to turn out to be a real good one.

Haden is going to be a very, very good CB and TJ Ward is already showing flashes of being the next great safety in the NFL.

I do wish Hardesty could stay healthy, because he showed some nice flashes during his limited time.

I mean coaching is pretty much to blame for that, not talent evaluation. We get a good coach, our players get developed better and our drafting looks genius

Gruden or Harbaugh

I think Gruden will have the best chance because of his history with Holmgren

I think Gruden is way too comfortable doing commentary to come back and coach a team that in all honesty needs much work. When it comes to Harbaugh, while he's done great things at Stanford, he's still a college coach, and coaching kids that come from well-to -do families that value education and discipline. Not many of those types in the NFL.

Holgen runs a west coast offense, and he needs a coach/players that can fill those types.

I'm not saying the coaching is great, but the talent just isn't there. How many starters on the Browns would start for other teams in the division? It is only a handful. It is too early to judge this year's draft. If you look at last year's draft, several players were drafted too early when there were better choices still on the board. By talent evaluation I also meant offseason moves to bring in players from trades or free agency. The receivers that are put out there might be the worst group of NFL receivers that I have ever seen, and I have watched the NFL 30+ years.

Eric Mangini is to the NFL as Charlie Weis was to college football.

Two guys that were likely nerds their whole lives (did either of them actually play football?) that all of a sudden the media declared geniuses, and they bought in to it. Weis pretty much acted like trailer trash with his million dollar ND payout, Mangini was on The Sopranos - for God's sake.

Justin and I tried to warn the Browns fans that there is a reason Mangini was chased out of NY. His success with the Jets happened despite him, not because of him. He was a horrible hire.

Bucks won, Browns won, and Pittspuke lost. It's called a trifecta.

Just to answer on if Mangini played. I believe he was a lineman for Wesleyan which is a DIII school in the Northeast. I know he went to the same school and was in the same frat as Bellichek.
