A mom has been charged for cheering on her daughter when the girl was in a fight with another girl. Nobody seemed to be really getting hurt here. Do you think criminal charges are necessary?

Sounds eerily similar to a Chatter poster that I was told actually drove one of his kids to a fight so his son could fight his adversary.

I remember my Dad making me go back out and fight a neighbor kid after the kid bloodied my nose with a sucker punch. Dad watched from the back porch and then brought out pop-scicles for both of us. Kids fight sometimes and unless weapons are used or someone is really getting a malicious pounding, it's not that bad of a thing.

Agree with its others in saying it is BS. As the old Kenny Rogers song goes "Sometimes you have to fight to be a man". It's part of life.

I am in 100% agreement about the pussification of the country, but at some point adults have to have some common sense. Looking and acting like trash doesn't help this country either. Kids are kids and they are going to fight, but when they are that age their parents should be teaching them to act like adults. Not saying she deserves 5 years in prison, but I think it's sad and embarrassing to see a grown woman do that. I've told my 4 year old daughter many times that it's okay to defend herself if someone hits her, but I would never just stand there and cheer her on to knock the other kid out.

Never said she should be criminalized, I just think she is a piece of white trash and don't think her actions should be supported.

So Borris. You say they should be teaching their kids to act like adults? What about the adults that fight in say. a cage/ring. Still wrong to fight?

lol, are really going to compare a professional organized sport between trained athletes to a random backyard fight with pissed off kids that just want to beat the shit out of each other? If you think thats any way to raise a kid I really hope you never have children. By the way, I love watching MMA, I just tell my daughter she can't watch with me.

I played football and wrestled in high school in the late 80's. My wrestling coach (also a football asst.) on a couple occasions did something that today would probably get him fired. Whenever a couple of the guys would get into it off the mat he would punish them at practice. The drill was that both of them would sit on their knees in front of the whole team and slap each other in the face until one gave up. I never had to do it, but the guys who told me about it said it was more embarassing than anything else (although they would get a few good licks in).

My coach was just an "old school" kind of guy. There are several instances of things he did that today would find itself in national headlines.

We had a coach in HS that would put the big 16 oz gloves & head gear on guys who wanted to fight and made them go at it on the wrestling mats. And it usually ended up with the two guys exhausted, laughing and shaking hands. No way you could do that in today's PC world.

If two guys went at it after the play in football our coach was a fan of making them hold hands and run laps around the practice field. Non-violent and pretty embarrassing as well. It usually worked.
