I have to go to Italy for 3 weeks for work from 10/10-10/31.
Italy can/will be nice (much nicer than my India trip back in July, India sucks balls), but I still hate missing my kids sports.
Anyone else travel for work at times and miss out on your kids sporting events?
In Feb/March I was in Idaho right near the end of wrestling season and missed the end of year tournament (team one, not OAC states, etc).
India made me miss the end of baseball season.
So, I have missed now the end of wrestling season, the end of baseball season, and the end of football season...and its really the only 3 trips I've had to take this year (I've had a couple 1 or 2 day car trips to Indiana too).

The two best things about my job are I get a decent amount of vacation and I get to spend a lot of time with my family. (They kind of go together, but it's rare that I'm not out the door at closing time, and they are very flexible about leaving to go to school functions or to do family things.)

You mean normally paid well or am I getting a "bump" for while I'm in Italy?

Although I'm sorry you're going to have to miss out on the end of your kids' season, I'm sooooooooooooo jealous of you right now! Of course, I'll be in England and then Mexico in less than a month, so life will not suck so bad lol.
But, Italy is definitely on my bucket list. Would love to just start at the northern mountains, eat my way clear to the tip of the boot, and then boat on over to Sicily.

Pay is good go rocks.
I will be near Milan up by the mountains. I doubt I'll have much time to travel the country, but will definitely see all I can in and around Milan.
