I don't know all of the details but it looks like Twitter has been hacked. Reports are saying that thousands of accounts have been affected and that Twitter is asking people to not get on the site until they get things fixed.

Reports are also saying that you are still safe to access the site through your phone and is only a browser issue.

Also, Twitter wasn't "hacked" per se. An exploit was found that allows users to put in little snippits of javascript, mainly code including the onHover event that triggers the code when the mouse cursor hovers overs the tweet. This can trigger a ton of different things, it looks like it's mostly triggering popups to porn sites and the like. This is also why it is still safe to use any twitter apps.

Why do hackers always link crap like that to porn? Are they just trying to be funny/malicious or are they paid by the porn sites to do so. I just don't understand the intent of the hacker.

They are saying that when those things are triggered, it is allowing hackers to obtain your account information...that is what I was going for when I said hacked.

Ahh, gotcha. I wasn't aware that they were able to grab your account info with this.

Either way, this makes the twitter folks look bad. How could you leave such a glaring exploit open? Durrr.

Smh...twitter is minor league. They need a real webmaster with a major league site on their resume...like justincredible.
