It's a two-horse race with two preseason Super Bowl contenders sitting at 0-2. Which one is the most surprising?

Minny.....although, they lost to a pretty damn good team the first week.

Cowboys

I went with Minnesota.

I took the Vikings. When the Wade Phillips/Tony Romo Cowboys fade and don't meet expectations, I'm not surprised. They seem to be 0-2 in the "we don't have the fortitude to pull tough games out" way.

Vikings on the other hand just looks bad. Favre looks like he's aged A LOT this past offseason and right now, they're looking like a 6-10 kind of team.

I can honestly see Favre quitting half way through the season if this continues.

Truthfully, when I saw his stat line from yesterday and read about how much worse he looks from last year, that thought popped into my head. He has a couple more bad games and the team falls to the brink of not being in contention whatsoever and I can easily see him deciding to retire instead of playing out the string on a bad/mediocre team.

Of course, now, he'll probably put up 2-3 straight 300-yard games and I'll look like an idiot...but if things continue like they have been, with him keeping Trent Edwards and Matt Cassel company statistically, and the team keeps losing, I think he'll quit sooner rather than later.

I agree. Favre looks lost out there this year. I blame his daughter for having a kid an making him an actual grandpa, not just some old grey-beard.

The Browns
Not that they are good but they couldn't have had a easier 1st 2 games.
They win those and they gain confidence.Since they lost those they may win 2 games all year.

Minnesota should of paid a decent QB 5 million and saved 15 million for other players. No way should Minn pay a 41 year old injured QB who didnt keep conditioned 20 million. The bad thing is, Im going to Minn for my first time this w/e to watch them play and they are looking bad, without Rice and possibly Harvin.

Minnesota had the luxury of easing into the season last year and we never noticed the early struggles having started with the Browns and Lions.

Not so easy this year. Also, they are desperately missing Rice and Chester Taylor this year. Rice was Favre's go to guy last year and their deep threat, and CT led the league in 3rd down pass receptions last year. That kept alot of drives going last year and was a big part of their overall offense. Alot of those short yardage plays in the red zone the Vikes are struggling on were where Taylor was so valuable catching the ball out of the back field.

Favre was never going to equal his play last year, but things are just in disarray right now as Rice is out, Percy is hurt and missed most of training camp, and outside of Shank he doesn't seem to like any of his receivers.

They will find their stride at some point, but you have to wonder if it is going to come too late for it to matter.

Sidney Rice screwed the team worse than Favre did by waiting until just before the season to have surgery when he was told by 2 out of 3 specialists all the way back in March that he needed it on his hip. He will miss at least half the season, and most likely won't make much of an impact even when he returns.

Just as the stars aligned and everything went right last year, it seems that everything that could go wrong this year has.
