With the moratorium up after this year and all of the conference shuffle, the smaller conferences (especially the WAC) will be needing some fresh meat to fill out their membership. What schools are at least considering making the move?
Texas at San Antonio
Texas State
Jacksonville State
Appalachian State
UMass
Montana
Sacramento State
Delaware
James Madison
Valparaiso
Georgia Southern
North Dakota State
Northern Iowa
New Hampshire
Youngstown State
Northern Iowa
South Carolina State
Southern Illinois
South Alabama
Obviously only a few of these will move, but of them, Texas State and Texas at San Antonio are pretty much a sure thing. Did I miss any others?

oooh, title fail.
Anyway, I generally don't want more teams going FBS as there are already about 20-30 programs that just don't belong at that level. That said, if I had my druthers only Montana, Montana St, N Iowa, App State, Ga Southern, YSU would be allowed to move up.

The Big East wants Villanova to move up and join the league for football. 'Nova says it's looking into it. My guess is that they will.
I hope YSU never makes that move. If you're a good I-AA program (I hate FCS) you can get more notariety than a lousy I-A program (i.e. Kent)

Western Kentucky and New Mexico should move to FCS (WKU should go back). They are awful.

Michigan might move up to FBS with that big win over UMASS.

idk the size of most of these schools' stadiums, but the FBS minimum for seating is 15,000... that's what is holding up Nova's bid right now, as they only currently seat 12,000, plus they'd have to fully fund 25 schollys and make up some Title IX compliance as well

Yes Nova is looking into joining the Big East in football. The BE has had an open invitation extended going back a decade, before they invited UCONN to join. Nova is apparently very interested this time around. I have read on Big East boards there is concern of a split by the eight members who play football (UC, UL, USF, Pitt, WVU, UCONN, Syracuse and Rutgers). The eight schools who play basketball are apparently willing to help Nova in their cause financially if it means preservation of the BE in its current format. The rumor is Nova will move from their current stadium (seating 7500) to the MLS soccer stadium in Philidelphia (which seats 19K), until they are ready to house a program in either Franklin Field (50,000 seats) or in the Eagles stadium (where Temple currently plays).

^^^^
I can't see them playing at Lincoln Financial... that field already gets enough play with the Eagles plus Temple in it... Franklin Field seems like a more viable option

What a joke, KSU is going to have a good year this year. Kent and Akron both get more spotlight than YSU. Kent has benn on TV 2 weeks in a row now, How many times has YSU been on national TV 2 times in a row?

^^^ I said if you are a good 1-AA. When YSU was winning National Championships in the '90's, you're telling me that Kent got more national press than YSU? That's a joke. Why has Kent been on TV 2 weeks in a row, because of who they were playing, not because they're Kent St. Kent is going to need several years of being "good" before people quit considering them a joke in football.
(At least YSU scored on Penn St.)

Yeah...we definitely need more FCS schools to move to FBS because with the glut of useless bowl games being added year after year, we need more "FBS" schools to fill them. It's not about what's good for college football....it's about the money. Remember that.

Back in the late 90's when YSU tried to join the MAC and go 1-A, they were blocked by Kent and Akron from joining the MAC, so they decided to stay 1-AA. Both Kent and Akron ended up dropping YSU from their schedules because they grew tired of losing to a 1-AA team in most years.

I think YSU dropped Kent and Akron because they didn't want to play all the games on the road. The MAC has a policy that its teams cannot play on the road at an I-AA school.

Which is more bull shit. Ball State (MAC) is travelling to play AT Illinois State (MVFC-FCS) in 2012, the same conference as YSU. The bottom line is Akron and Kent were constantly losing to YSU which hurt in recruiting. With the new $12 million WATTS Center going up at YSU, prepare for that to continue to happen. This year YSU would roll all over Akron and at least give Kent a run for their money. YSU scored 14 on Penn State, how many did Kent score???
