It was 13 feet 4 inches and 900lbs. she hooked it with a fishing line and then got it on the boat to kill it. She said she shot it 8 times then stabbed it twice in the spinal cord.

I saw this on the front page of Yahoo...I mean I'm sure they checked into the validity of this, but I still find it EXTREMELY hard to believe this lady reeled in a 900 lb alligator on a fishing line. Video of her reeling it in, or it didn't happen haha

lol they have video of the gator with her sitting on it. I kinda dont believe she followed the rules and got it on the boat b4 she shot it but they did say she wrestled with it for over 2 hours and a day earlier someone caught a 11 foot 400lb gator the gators head it just huge

Leave the gators alone for god's sake. Unless they are trying to bite you, why spend two hours trying to kill one. Don't understand at all.

Ok hippie (TK). Alligators are overpopulated and swim in lakes where people like to swim and what not. Watch swamp people on History Channel, they get tags to kill over 100 in a month because there are too many gators.

Not a hippie. If people don't want to be eaten by an alligator, stay out of their waters. I just think it's pointless to kill a create that doesn't do anything to anyone. At least with deer, people actually eat what they kill. There was no way that woman was going to eat that 900 pound alligator. She doesn't live down there, she came down just for the thrill.

Maybe she needed some new shoes or a purse?

come on...know a little about the area before you talk - im sure that woman alone didnt eat the entire thing but they sell them to places that skin them and sell the meat which actually tastes pretty good and is eaten a LOT down there...and to address the staying out of their waters part - a 13 footer was also caught on a youth soccer complex down near Belle River...sounds like these people are doing the community a service to me

God created animals for sport. It's in the bible.

Well, first of all, I'm not a fan of sport kills. I know people will always do it, but it doesn't make it cool or right. I also find the story a little far-fetched.

Gator is pretty prevalent down south. I would say it is eaten more than venison in our area. The skin is used for many things and the meat is used. I don't think this lady got a permit just for the thrill of the kill.

Same size was caught in central Florida last week, after reports of missing pets.
