Reds looking to take 3 out of 4 against a bad Diamondbacks team. With the team so far ahead with so little games to go I think the Reds should just try to get into some kind of rhythm and get everyone healthy the final 16 games. And work on their playoff rotation as well....

Todays Starters:

Rodrigo Lopez ( 5 - 14 ) 5.13 ERA Vs. Edinson Volquez ( 3 - 2 ) 5.14 ERA

Reds Lineup:

Stubbs CF
Cabrera SS
Votto 1B
Gomes LF
Bruce RF
Hernandez C
Francisco 3B
Janish 2B
Volquez P

I don't mind this lineup at all. BP needs a day or two off...Rolen should probably take a week off. Janish deserves the ABs, I'd probably sit Joey and Gomes tomorrow along with Rolen and get Heisey and Cairo some more at bats. Although if Joey sits, Alonso will get the playing time even though he won't be around for the playoffs. Maybe we'll try to show him off so other teams become interested in him.

Yeah, it would be great if we gave him some games here at the end of the season and he put up some numbers. He'd be a great trading chip in the off season.

If the Reds go 8-8 the final 16 games then the Cardinals need to go 17-1 to tie ..... Seems like it's over huh

If the Reds only win 4 games the rest of the year the Cards would still have to go 13-5. They are toast.

I can't wait to bump the Phillips calling the Cardinals bitches thread after the Reds have clinched. I remember at least one person saying, as a fact, that the Reds absolutely will not win the Central.

Yea...I'm finally comfortable enough to start thinking about the playoffs. I would love to gain home field advantage throughout, but I think getting all of our players healthy is more important. I think Dusty should rest 2-3 everyday starters from here on out.

And that IS a fact. They will lose 16 straight and you can take that to the bank!!!! But seriously, we're not winning a game in the playoffs with Coco blowing tremendous nutsack game after game.

I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher go from being so good to being complete garbage as quickly as Volquez does at some point in every outing. It's like he suddenly forgets how to pitch.

Get his ass out of there. He's done. When he goes, he goes quickly.

All Arizona has to do is make Volquez work deep in the count. Obviously Young and LaRoach don't understand that concept. But then again, neither does almost the entire Reds line-up vs Lopez.

Volquez walks the 1st two of the Inning ( #7 & 8 hitters in the lineup and they both score) then gets back 2 back K's to end the Inning ( 7 for the game) .... Weird inning, Reds need to do some damage this Inning Lopez has lost his last 7 starts in a row. But of course this is the Reds that show up in cases like this by not being able to hit guys who are struggling.

After the 4th inning I was just saying to myself how good his stuff is and how I can never comprehend how he doesn't go 18-6 every year with his stuff. Then I remembered why...too inconsistent.

Janish with a first pitch pop up. Perfect example of our offense today. Man, the Reds make some terrible pitchers look good, that's for sure.
