Who are some good tailgate schools? Where would you like to tailgate most?

It's hard for OSU to be considered in the tops with the stupid parking lot setup and the open container laws

Ole Miss #1 is correct. Tune in to the webcam on Friday I think is when they open it. There is a stampede of people setting up 10x10 awnings.

a few tailgating food and drink recipes. Pigskins look tasty.

I'm going down to Ole Miss just to tailgate when they play Kentucky the first weekend of October.

Not surprised Penn State is #2.
The best way I can describe it to Ohio State fans is imagine ripping Ohio Stadium out of the map on game day and dropping it and all the tailgating fans in the middle of the rolling hills of Athens, Ohio. Beautiful scenery, generally plenty of parking, alum RV's as far as the eye can see, the smell of grilled brats everywhere,....and no big city traffic. Great tailgating environment!

Only way OSU could crack the top 10 is if they changed their open container laws and started letting people tailgate on the oval and south oval. PSU and Wisonsin are great tailgating schools.

I love tailgating at LSU. it's gonna be wild this year for the Alabama game, i'm already getting excited. Some of you may remember I was ROBBED of the opportunity to go to the Florida game last year by my boss, this year, it's on.

I was down at Tennessee this past weekend and tailgated for the UT/Oregon game. It was an awesome time. One of the better places I've tailgated at.

I guess it depends on your definition of tailgating. Is tailgating done in a parking lot of your vehicle, or is it just partying on campus? I ask because I was surprised to see Wisconsin on the list at #5. I've been to a game there and while there was a lot of partying happening on campus most of it seemed to be going on in bars, not actual tailgating.

another great tailgating spot is UL Lafayette. It's not uncommon to see 50,000 people tailgating and 12,000 go into the game the rest sit in the parking lot and watch LSU on satellite dishes and party till they shut down sunday morning.

can't believe i'm agreeing with j_lazy about anything but LSU is the best tailgate x10 over anyplace else I've ever been for games and I've attended TWLCP, PSU, TX, Tenn, Wis, OK. Huge cauldrons of gumbo and crawfish boils are common. Women were walking around serving the food on platters and asking me if they could "go & get me another beer?"
OSU used to be good in the pre-"Holleran that Bitch" days. And once the pressed boobs on glass left with the demise of Hineygate, Buckeye tailgating is lame now.

Agree with 99% of this post ... except for the part about traffic. I went to OSU at PSU back in '97, and the atmosphere was amazing, and the fans were cool for the most part. But traffic getting into and out of Happy Valley on those back roads was BRUTAL!

Sweet. That sounds like my kind of place to tailgate. Hopefully when retirement comes I will get a chance to go out and tailgate with the great Penn St fans. I hope they are Buckeye friendly?

A friend of mine recently moved out to Colorado. He is a Buckeye fan, but has went to a few Colorado games. He told me Colorado is a very nice place to tailgate. Even though the team is not that good the fans are pretty loyal.

I'm surprised Wisconsin isn't higher. Everyone in Wisconsin tailgates for everything like there's no tomorrow. It stood out to me as a big difference between Wisconsin and Ohio when I moved here.
