Heard rumor of this over the weekend, but now it's official I guess.

This may have a big impact on Division 4 - Region 14. EC was looking to be a lock in the top 8. Now, who knows.
The article doesn't mention whether or not the kids spoken to are part of the EC team. If they are, and participated in any of the first 3 games, it's a clear-cut forfeit. If they aren't part of the varsity team, that makes it a little bit of a grey area in terms of forfeiting games.

I'll believe it when I see it from OHSAA. To think they have actually caught someone's hand in the cookie jar is hard to believe. Not sure of the reputation of the Morning Journal? Doesn't get rave reviews from its own blog site.

None of the kids have participated in any game.
There are other reports beside the Morning Journal. Another paper in that area* reported I think yesterday...the Chronicle.

Shouldn't matter whether they participated in a game or not...if they are on the team they helped the "Team" win. It is not just the 11 or 22 guys on the field who make a difference. In our school if we did not have freshmen to help out with a scout team we would not be as good a football team. What is the Chronicle? do you have a link?

The reason them playing in a game or not is important is because it will have an impact on the severity of the punishment.
No I do not have a link. I read it in the paper.

I WILL NOT act surprised that a parochial school actually recruited anyone....I WILL however actually BE surprised that the OHSAA finally did something about it.

Serious question, not trying to be smart. Do you believe that every parochial school recruits?

I read the link. That happens in Steubenville all the time. That's why they got booted out of the jr hi league.
