Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

I don't know if much will come from this. He could have hit himself in the mouth or bit his lip for all that anybody knows. And unless there is scrapes or redness or whatever on any of the SEAL's hands, there really isn't much of a case, unless they want to take hearsay to a whole new level. Which, then again, wouldn't suprise me much considering.
But, I had to laugh when I read "he had the bloody lip to prove it".
Oh gawwwd!

Sources said, "The lip was swollen and bloody. And was in his back pocket."

I've met and shook hands with a Navy Seal. I met him him on some business dealings through my company, and he was very intersting to talk with. His grip just about crushed my hand when I reached out to shake with him. I wanted so bad to ask him "so....how many guys have you killed with your bare hands". Decided not to....I wanted to live that day.

Yeah, throw me in the "I know a Navy Seal" boat, as well.

Great, funny, nice guy. But, I mean, I've also never wandered over to his bad side, and don't at all wish to.

In high school, the athletic trainer was a former Navy Seal. Before that, he had been a pilot in the U.S. Navy.

Needless to say, i always felt a douche going to him with any sort of injury, as he had obviously "played" through much much much much much much worse in training and other exercises.

Our respect for human rights is what separates us from the terrorists.

In many instances throughout our history, it also makes us no better than the terrorists.

But, currently, i would agree with the sentiment, by and large.

Respect for human rights is not the same thing as beating the guy down while arresting him. So we don't tortue him, ok, a punch in the face, perfectly acceptable. People aren't going to want to do that job if they have to worry about getting in trouble for such trivial things.

A cut lip is cause for a human rights violation complaint?

If that's the case, we should just raise the white flag now.
