Anyone ever set up Windows Media Center to work with a 360? I can't get WMC to see the Xbox as an extender. Any ideas?

I can however see my PC's on the Xbox. I can't get the Xbox to ping from either of my PC's. I'm assuming it's a router setting. I'm using a Linksys router with dd-wrt installed.

Yes, it doesn't find the extender. It worked for my Windows 7 Machine but not for my Vista machine (not surprising at all).

Um, are you trying to use both at the same time because I'm unsure if you can use it as an extender for multiple PCs?

No. I only tried it on the 7 machine because the Vista machine wouldn't pick it up.

I'll try this one when I get home. This is one of the few things I haven't tried. I'd prefer to use my Vista machine because my 7 machine is a laptop and really don't want to leave that running at all times.

You have to open up Windows Media PLAYER (I think) and allow the extender. Your PC probably asked you way back in the day if you wanted to set up an extender and you told it no, so the two don't see each other.

I'm about 90% sure its in Windows Media Player's options.

If he wants to use the Xbox as a media extender, you are 90% wrong because the options are in Windows Media Center. I did this last night with a Linksys media extender using Windows 7. This sounds like a networking problem.

Do you have DHCP setup for both connections? Are they both on the same subnet?

I'm pretty sure the ICS thing will work as I remember that being the problem with my setup when I still had Vista.

On 7 they ARE in Media Center. Vista uses some dumbass shit and it's in Windows Media Player.

With a clean Windows 7 or Vista install you don't have to do that. At least with the handful I have setup.

Yeah I mean, Windows 7 is actually a quality product and when it can be had for only $30 bucks I'd feel bad if I stole it. But that's just me.

They aren't real picky on the .edu email things with it either because it doesn't cost them anything to let you download it. They'd rather have $30 than $0.
