Mentor Lake Catholic (2-0)
@ Youngstown Ursuline (2-0)
Friday Night | Stambaugh Stadium | 7:30pm

This one will be a war and perhaps one of the best games in the entire state. Ursuline is the consensus #1 in Division V while Mentor Lake Catholic has big wins over St. Iggy and Benedictine. Ursuline has outscored their opponents 90-14 thus far, but MLC's opponents have been without a doubt tougher.

Last year, Mentor Lake Catholic got the best of the Irish 35-21. A year before that, Ursuline rolled over MLC 53-14.

Predictions?

I cant believe it MLC beat Iggy !!
They must be loaded. Should be a great contest.
Lets hear some skinny on both teams . I need info on Ursulin anyway cause we play them this year . Looks like Youngstown teams are going for city of champions again this year.
In 2005 Steubenville and Steubenville Central both went to the finals and that was special. I dont know how Ursulin and Mooney share the talent either but lets face it we got some darn good football on this side of the state same as MAC and CINCI area .

Ursuline has a lot of great players. Akise Teague is the one getting the most attention from Division 1 colleges with a ton of MAC offers, as well as an offer to hometown Youngstown State. Other's to watch are Zach Conlan on the line, Paul Kempe at QB, Jeff Podolsky at WR/S, Trevor Smith at LB, and Jesse Curry at LB. There are a lot more to name, but those are the big ones to watch.

I saw Ursulin play Pittsburgh Central Catholic last year in the rally in Wheeling and they were entertaining . They had some real speedy backs and jumped on PCC early but then PCC ran them down with a bigger team and some nice backs themselves . I was rooting for all the OHIO teams ofcourse Youngstown is always a tough town being from Steubenville we have played Y town teams for years

Do to the fact that Ursuline had 2 jv opponents and Lake Catholic had 2 quality opponents I think the Irish take their first butt kicking of 2010. Lake Catholic is the real deal!

I am not going to argue the fact that MLC has played better opponents thus far, but remember that over the past three seasons, Ursuline has played 45 games, three of which were in state championships. They have played MLC the past two seasons and know what it takes to win against tough teams. I will give the Irish the slight edge with this game being at YSU.

This should be a great game and impossible to call! I'll be rooting for Ursuline (for obvious reasons), but am very interested in how MLC does against them. Good luck to both teams!

Very tough call on this one. When you look at what Ursuline and Mooney did last year, they could probably stand toe to toe with anyone in the state regardless of division. I'm voting for Ursuline only because they are a Mahoning Valley team (plus, my countless relatives that attended Ursuline would disown me if I didn't support Ursuline). I certainly wouldn't bet the house on either team!!

I voted for Ursuline because I want Ursuline and Big Red to be undefeated when they play each other week 8. That would really be a showdown!

Lake Catholic. Sanders is running great behind the big O line led by FLORIDA recruit Chase Hounshell.
