Bo Pelini was my pick to replace Tressel (when he retires) but now with Nebraska joining the Big Ten that is not likely to happen. Very seldon does a coach jump from one team to another within the same conference.

My List tOSU

1. Urban Meyer - Just to prove to the SEC that he really would leave florida for OSU
2. Nick Saban - See number 1, although i don't know if Saban would leave for OSU
3. Bob Stoops - Ohio native and heck of a coach.
4a. Mark Dantonio
4b. Bo Pelini
5. Luke Fickell - Kid needs some more experience but I think he will make a great head coach one day.

I heard Pelini is high on LSU's radar whenever Les Miles is gone. I think the only place Pelini would leave Nebraska for would be OSU, regardless if it's in the same conference.

My vote would also be Pelini for the Buckeyes! I want nothing to do with Urban Meyer being the head coach at OSU.

He only left Nebraska because he wasn't offer the HC job at Nebraska they gave it to Callahan. Very different circumstances now.

Okay. I'm still curious as to why the_system thinks OSU would be the only job the guy would leave Nebraska for. I mean, I know the OSU ties and all, but there are still jobs that could be better jobs than Nebraska and he might be on a lot of lists. I don't know him, I don't know if his dream job is OSU or if Nebraska is his dream job...just wondering how/why the_system arrived at that conclusion.

I would hate it if Stoops were an OSU coach. He's a jerk.

That I couldn't answer as I'm not Coach Pelini. I do know that in a recent interview that he said Nebraska isn't a stepping stone job so take it for what it's worth.

I agree with that. There are some schools where IMO you really can't move up. Nebraska has great tradition, and other than money I don't see what another school could offer that Nebraska doesn't already have.

Agree there probably aren't many, given his roots...especially if he gets Nebraska back to the top. I think LSU has an interesting hook there because of his winning a title there already. Money isn't always everything, but according to a USA Today article, Les Miles makes almost double what Pelini is being paid (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2009-coaches-contracts-database.htm - not in base salary). More money + previous relationship + at least equal opportunity to win big definitely equals "worth a look".

I don't know much about the guy. Was Nebraska the first opportunity he had to be a head coach?

I believe so but not 100% sure.

Even though I said Bo to OSU, I don't think he will leave Nebraska. Even for LSU. Sure money talks but he seems to be a coach that just fits with the Husker "brand". He has them playing shut down defense without most of the players being his own guys. Supposedly the offense is going to be better this year so they will already be back on the national radar. If he can recruit as well as he can coach then I don't see why he would ever want to leave.
