So the fiance and I are moving to Canal Winchester next month and we're renting a place with a Directv dish. We were looking a what packages would fit us...and I know it it expensive, but we're thinking about getting the $84/month package that has all the movie channels, the sports channels and the regular channels. I'm a huge sports fan...she's a movie buff so it seems like it makes sense. Does anyone else have this package? Is it worth it? I mean we're going to be making decent money (I'm a teacher, she starts her job as an accountant at a mid-level firm on January 4th) so I think we can afford it, but is the package worth the cost? Someone that has it, let me know!

Regional Sports Networks are kind of a waste, imo. Since a lot air pro events, you need the premium packs from NFL, NBA, MLB, etc to avoid seeing a black screen during those events. Plus FOX RSNs air mostly the same programming, irregrdless, if you are in Ohio, Florida, California, etc.

They aren't a waste if you're a college sports fan. They show lots of college football, college basketball and college baseball games you wouldn't normally get to see, and very often are not blacked out.

Plus if you're a fan of an out of market team (I live in Arkansas, but am an Indians fan), you get to watch all the shows ABOUT the sports team you follow, which you don't get from the premium packages. For example I watch The Tribe Report and Indians Minor League Magazine on STO.
