Desmond Howard had Alabama over Miami (FL)
Lee Corso had Nebraska over Florida
Kirk Herbstreit had Ohio State over Oklahoma

Thoughts?

Probably Notre Dame over Alabama. :D

I'd take Ohio State over Boise State.

of the 6 teams mentioned, I can see Bama, OSU, Oklahoma and even Nebraska as a dark horse (they have TX at home)

I think Florida lost too much and has to go to Bama and FSU and win the SEC title game.

Miami's schedule is too difficult - it would be a huge effort for them to make a BCS game let alone the title game.

Nebraska over Alabama is my prediction.

All of their picks were reasonable.

^^^

I disagree, I think picking Miami is just trying to stir attention. Their schedule is brutal. OOC at Ohio St. and at Pittsburgh, they are in by far the toughest of the two ACC divisions and play the two toughest opponents in the other division, and then if they get to the ACC title game will probably have to beat FSU again. This plus having the worst home field advantage of any team in the top 25.

Well, you state a good case there. However, I just don't think it's THAT far fetched. Miami(FL), IMO, is still a reasonable choice to play for, and win, the national title. They've got a shit ton of talent. JMO.

I think all 3 are nuts. And Herb has Auburn in the SEC title game vs. UF too.

I agree with you Cats. Herbstreit should receive a one year suspension for picking Auburn to win the West.

Three years ago Desmond said Miami would compete for a national title this year but you gotta admire that he is sticking by what he said. I think of this every time he talks about Miami (which is alot).

Three years ago they had the #1 recruiting class in the nation.. I dont think it is that far-fetched of a statement.

I didnt think your post sounded right.........so I looked it up. And according to rivals- Miami hasnt had a top recruiting class as far back as 2002. That's as far as I looked back.

According to ESPN, it is right. This year's junior class was ranked the #1 Class in the nation..now by who it was ranked #1, I dont know, but they were talking about it on college football live.

Whichever team loses next Saturday, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be out of contention, just that they will have a much harder time getting there.
