The main thing I've gathered from this incident is that if old people were kept in their cages, this sort of thing wouldn't happen.

Hello! I have a load pistol, hunting knife, tomahawk … so should I stop taking relatives over 80 years old shopping?

Depends on the answers to two questions:

1. Is the relative suffering from dementia?
2. If so, have they annoyed you to the point where you're hoping a stranger with legal authority gets the opportunity to piledrive their senile ass to oblivion and back?

Hunting knife is pretty normal for a car. Steak knife is weird as shit.

Also, you probably shouldn't keep firearms loaded. But maybe I was just taught wrong.

And you shouldn't stop taking old relatives, just make sure not to leave them alone with weapons.

The gun might as well be loaded if you are going to bother having it. Just have the safety on and lock it in the glove box. Then your crazy ass 87 year old mother doesn't find it.

And a big LOL to the idiot who posted examples of police brutality in a strip club shooting and a drug house getting raided. Model citizens right there. Big loss to society.

Thats a great point I missed reading through the page the first time.

Cinci your post about people being a loss to society is terrible. So you praise the cops for not caring about age then you backtrack and talk about how some people dont matter? Doesnt make sense at all. Last time I checked everyones a human being. If the cops saw these people as an extra threat and didnt care if they were gone then they shouldve seen this 87 year old lady with alheimers and her back turned to a trained cop as a ridiculously lesser threat and handled it accordingly.

The woman being 87 and having alzheimers doesn't equal into the equation when the cop arrives at the scene. That's what everybody is trying to tell you EW.
So, take that out of your argument and what are you left with?
- an old woman with a cane and a knife who won't listen to what the cop is saying

So then what?

The age just reinforces the point, anyone can see shes very old. That doesnt even matter so people bringing that up are using it as a pseudo strawman.

So then what?

You take more than 15 seconds and use common sense to deduce how much of a threat this barely mobile "old lady" is. Then we this "old lady" turns her back to you, as a young, fit, fully trained police officers, you disarm her like you are trained to do, not slam her on the ground.

And even more, if you see an old lady walking around in a parking lot aimlessly with a knife, are you automatically going to assume shes up to no good or are you going to ask wtf is wrong, what happened, wheres her family and try and talk her down peacefully? Thats not normal behavior for.....anyone, so why not try and difuse the situation before resorting to something excessive after a few seconds of deliberation.

The cop doesnt know she has alzheimers remember? You at least try to talk for more than 15 seconds, like I said, if you saw an old lady walking around aimlessly you arent thinking shes ready to hurt someone, youre wondering what the problem is and whats wrong. Such behavior is not normal. Common Sense.

Fab1b, thats such BS, no one is saying that. People are upset that this was handled excessively. Stop using that as a sad excuse. You can find many instances of cops not acting up to the standards of the badges on their chests but no one is condemning them as a whole. Dont be stupid and say shit like that.

Cinci, are you saying your statement doesnt contradict what was said here?

I do not give a shit about the old lady who was slammed to the ground because the cop did what was right. Its sad and also pathetic that those responsible for the kids let them be in that specific situation at the time of their death.

It doesn't affect my Monday night in the slightest though.

you could talk for 15 days, you arent going to talk an alzheimers patient down. and why wouldnt you think she is going to hurt someone? witnesses already stated she said she was going to cut them. such behavior is not normal is right, that is why you dont treat it like you are disarming a nomal old lady.

Don't say what I said?? Damned if they do damned if they don't is 100% right because clowns like you cop haters want to bash them for all that they do!! Of course there are bad cops just like there are bad employees where you work!! The difference is you don't have to disarm bad, crazy, sick, disturbed, etc... people then have to worry about being criticized for it!! I do defend cops, my father was one for a long time, but I don't always defend them. I have seen plenty of wrong doing by police and when warranted I will say so myself.

Fab1b, youre full of shit, you call me a cop hater with absolutely no basis. I dont hate cops, as stated a few of my very close friends are cops. I respect what they do and what they go through. But some are just not good, as exampled by the many stories of shady shit they do. But to say I hate all cops and am a cop hater? Get the fuck outta here with that trash. Youre full of shit.

Glory Days, You can most certainly talk to someone with Alzheimers for more than 15 seconds. And watching the video you can see no one was around for her to hurt even if she could moving as slowly as she was. And once again, a young, fit, trained cop couldnt subdue an 87 year old lady who HAD HER BACK TURNED to the aforementioned young, fit, trained cop?

Capone, I thought I told you until you back up what you said earlier you are nothing but filth? Take your ignorance elsewhere.

So Cincix are you going to admit what you said contradicts what was said earlier, you made your bed now sleep in it. Thanks :)

You talk hard my man!! If you don't hate them you sure like to tear them apart whenever you get the chance. Like here this cop did nothing wrong and it was a woman cop to boot (if it was a man you probably would have ripped your hair out by now crying how could a male cop not handle that old lady without force dah dah dah dah dah), I don't give a shit as you keep pointing out how old she was or what she has, the cop rolling up on the scene has no clue of that and if she wasn't a danger then police wouldn't have been called in the first place.

So what is it with you then?

The female cop should be given a commendation for bravery for risking her life to protect the public. She's a hero.
