i'm real interested in getting a sub for my car..but i have no idea where to start looking..i want something that hits hard and his loud, but i cant really spend more than 300-350 on sub+amp...can anyone help suggest anything for me?
also, can someone explain the difference between a 200w max and 1000w max sub, what ohms are, what the hz (ik its frequency) means, and the dbs..im pretty clueless, just know i want a good system

ohms are the resistance the power runs into. Running a sub at 2 or 4 ohms will get a deeper louder bass sound, but a little sloppier and will make your amp run hotter. When I was like 16 I ran 2 Alpine type R's at 200w at 2 ohms. It was loud as shit. I have done probably 15 installs, but did my last one probably 8 years ago....

wrong. the ohm load from a sub has absolutely nothing to do with how it sounds. it has to do with how much power your amp will put out. the sloppy sound comes from a sloppy enclosure. rms = root mean square. it is the average amount of power that is needed to properly run a sub. i always over power my subs. the key is to keep the signal from the head unit to the input of the amp as clean as possible. easiest way to do that is with a 4volt output from head unit.
as far as brands, i like memphis subwoofers and amps. stay away from JL audio, and audiobahn.

People still spend money to put "systems" in their cars? Just what I want to hear, boom boom boom rattle rattle rattle, around me in traffic or driving by my house!

Yeah I gotcha too bad that isn't possible when your car is rattling apart next to mine in traffic like these low life thugs where I live.
