A Michigan man who will recruit defensive players and NOT insist on running a gimmick offense. HOW IN THE HELL has RichRod managed to have had 3 recruiting classes and not have a Div1 corner.

I think he has had quite a few elite or close to it corners, they just haven't stayed with the program for a variety of reasons.

Where is Aan Arbor?

IMO,RichRod will still be there after a 7-6 season (losing their bowl game)...tsun will not want to admit they made a mistake--until next year.

gotta say somebody besides the other 3 choices. Rich Rod will be gone, Les Miles will still be at LSU, and Harbaugh has burned a ton of bridges at Michigan

I agree with this. I think he gets another year if they can go 7-5 in the regular season. I actually still think Rich Rod can succeed at Michigan, but he needs to find a QB first and get a better defense.

Rich Rod won't succeed in the Big 10, ever.

Maybe in the Big East against small defenses will the spread option work, but not in the Big 10 in the cold weather against big brute defensive lines.

I would bet that Harbaugh has to be on top of the UM alumni list. With his success at Stanford it has to be every UM alumni dream to have a homegrown coach come back and "restore" the program to glory.

I think UM goes 7-5 and they give him ONE more year.

For those of you saying Michigan will go 7-5 this season, I want to know where the 7 wins come from and how confident you are in each of those picks. So here's the schedule, go game by game telling me if it will be a win or a loss for Michigan and how confident (%) you are that you're predicted outcome is correct.

The way I see it UMass, BG, Indiana and Illinois are all definite wins (although I'm nervous about saying Indiana is a sure fire win since Indiana almost beat them in Ann Arbor last year and since they will likely be better this year). Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State are all losses. That put's them at 4-4, needing 3 ins out of the four games I haven't picked yet. I'll say that Purdue is a likely win for UM, giving them 5. The other three games are basically toss-ups. The Notre Dame game is in South Bend this year, so I'll give the Irish the edge since the home team has won the last three meetings (that put's UM at 5-5). UConn is the first game of the season and it's in the Big House, so as much as I'd like to pick the Huskies, I think Michigan will win a close one. This means it all comes down to their instate rivals. Michigan State has won the last two years, and if the game were in East Lansing I'd pick the Spartans easily. However, the game is in Ann Arbor, so Michigan should have the edge, even thought they have a losing record at home under Rich Rod. Honestly, even though I picked Michigan to beat Indiana and Purdue, those are shaky picks becuase both of those games are on the road, and Michigan has exactly one road win (Minnesota 2008) under Rodriguez.

I could see Michigan finishing anywhere from 3-9 again to 7-5. 8-4 would really surprise me and would definitely involved a pretty big upset. Since 7-5 is about as good as I see Michigan doing this year, I doubt they actually get to 7 wins. Sure, they could win a lot more, but that would shock me if they did.

2 things here:

1. Why do people still think Big 10 football is played in the cold? It really doesn't get that cold until December most years, and even if not, Michigan will likely only play 2 games max in the cold. One is OSU, which they are not going to win regardless, and the other is another Big 10 team.

I understand once they have the Big 10 championship it will extend the season, but I've never understood the whole idea that Big 10 football is played in the cold.

2. I don't think Rich Rod will get them back to where they want to be (competing with and beating Ohio State), I do think he can win 8-10 regular season games with their current schedule once he has an experienced QB and a better defense. I think that would be considered a success.

I don't see Michigan beating Notre Dame unless Notre Dame hands them the game. Michigan's defensive secondary is rather pitiful, they actually make Notre Dame's look better. I see Michael Floyd and Co. having a BIG day and beating the Wolverines.

Your prediction is the worst I see Michigan doing because I simply can't see them losing to any of the three teams you have them beating. So I doubt that they will only win three games, but I honestly see this as being more likely than 7-5.

I give them four wins, I think they have a chance at beating Indiana for 5. I'm not seeing 7 wins though. But the real issue is how they do in the big 10. If they only win 2-3 Big 10 games... Rich Rod is gone.

I am going with someone not on the poll. The next head football coach at Michigan will be Randy Edsall. Edsall shot up in the coaching ranks last season after tragedy struck and one of his players was murdered at UCONN. He rallied his troops to a sound defeat of ND. After UCONN defeats the Wolverines in Week #1, the feelers will be out.

I'm praying it's Harbaugh.

I can't see Dave Brandon settling for Les Miles.. not after we settled for RichRod a few years ago.
