I think it was the coaches poll that won't list SoCal since the coaches poll is part of the BCS formula.

I think we could seriously see the ACC we were promised with its expansion. Miami and Florida State have basically been shit the last few seasons, but Miami seems to be getting back into the picture, and Florida State has an opportunity to do things now that they're in the post-Bowden era. With Paul Johnson's work at Georgia Tech, Beamer's perennial power Hokies from Virginia Tech, and some Butch Davis magic at North Carolina, this is shaping up to be the best ACC year in recent memory. Shit even Boston College will be solid, and Duke has a competent and capable coach who will lift them from the cellar. Plus, I haven't even brought up Clemson. The ACC, in a few short months, may no longer need the Big East to look good.

Or you could see Va Tech get beat by Boise State and OSU roll over Miami. That would instantly kill the OOC momentum for the ACC.

Va Tech is always solid but what have they done on a national scale to be considered a perennial power (unless you are saying an ACC perennial power). They are 1-3 in BCS bowl games with their only W against Cincinnati which is not great.

I was refering to ACC power. They have consistently been the team that has, on the national scale, failed to live up to expectations late in the year.

I hope to see Virginia Tech and Miami get beat, but those OOC games do not necessarily disprove my point, that the ACC as a conference may be turning things around and within the next few years we could see things shape up to give us the ACC it said it would be. Can Florida State and Miami get back to being top 5 powers? Sadly, yes. Can Virginia Tech hang around 8-12 like always? I don't see why not. Will Paul Johnson and Butch Davis be the dark-horses? I think so.
