Whitlock left the Kansas City Star after 16 years. He hasn't written a story since late May and the Star just said he was on vacation. Well it leaked out int he last week that he actually quit the paper. Today he went on local radio for 3 hours to explain his choice. I was listening and can only say it was awesome. The first hour was Whitlock telling his story with no commercials the second was with the shows normal host and the final hour was questions from callers. He demanded that his interview be on tv and the food catered by his favorite bbq place. During the first hour at one point they cut him off because he said the Editor of the KC Star was kissing another man after the Texas vs Alabama game last year. He also said the editor promoted the woman in charge of the sports section because they were having an affair. He also said the KC Star has done lots of layoffs over the last few years and the wrong people are getting fired because many people are untouchable because they have gotten high with the editor. He also broke down crying a few times saying he loved KC and newpapers. Here is a small piece of info i found talking about it. http://www.fanhouse.com/2010/08/19/whitlock-leaves-kc-with-bombast-side-of-barbecue/ you can listen here http://www.610sports.com/

He is an idiot regardless of the media outlet he selects to spew his bullshit and this article proves it.

If his allegations are true, I admire the fact that he's risking big-time lawsuits to speak out against that stuff, but man, after reading that article, he just comes off as a douche. Requiring the full three hours to be set up how he likes it, while getting the interview on TV (free barbeque's another thing...I'd imagine a lot of radio guests of note get comped some free shit for appearing). Comes off as an "I have BIG NEWS for you!!! But you better REALLY indulge me if you wanna hear it!!!" In other words, Whitlock may have entered Mtrulz-level attention whoring and that's just sad...
