Getting ready to write a check for $131 for a speeding ticket that I received last Friday in Morrow County.

84 in a 65 mph zone. I know I shouldn't be driving that fast. Didn't even realize it.
(have been really watching my speed since)

First ticket in 10 years. What a waste of money....

How much was your highest fine for speeding?

I think that you were lucky that it was not 20+ over the speed limit.

just one, $87. Was doing 65mph(speed limit was 70) in a construction zone at 4am in the middle of nowhere Iowa. He just wrote me for 65 in a 55 since there were no other cars and no one out doing any construction.

I've been pulled over 10-15 times for speeding, but I've never gotten a speeding ticket. The most I ever got was a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt. :)

I had a 85 in a 65 a couple years back on the turnpike near cleveland. He said that it is a judgement call...could have got me for reckless op, but I just got about a 125 dollar fine.

I think you got luck the fine wasn't doubled?? Or was it one of those construction zones that only is -10 MPH when "active"?

I got a $70 one for doing 61 in a 45. I've talked to many others who conveniently were also doing exactly 16 over, so I think he just wrote 61 instead of 60 because that takes it to the next tier of 16-20 mph over rather than just 10-15 mph over.

Still doesn't make me drive any slower. Speed limits for the most part are bullshit. Most people don't follow them anyway, and it's not like 10 mph over is going to make you more likely to crash if you know how to drive worth a damn. As soon as he was gone I continued along at the same speed and I continue to drive as fast as I deem reasonable.

no. they can if they are feeling nice, but they dont even need radar to pull you over for speeding.

yeah he cut me a break. i was gonna say something if he didnt. it was 4am, no other cars and no one doing construction. plus the roads werent even narrowed or anything, just orange barrels on the side of the road. but he cut me a break so i kept my mouth shut haha. in Iowa the troopers bring you back to their car and while i was in there bullshitting with him, noticed he had a michigan wolverines sticker on his computer. haha i let him hear it about being from ohio.

If they don't need radar to pull you over, how do they argue it if you go to court for it?

My highest was $119 for 74 in a 50.

The last ticket I got was for going "71" in a 55. The officer told me he clocked me at 71 then again at 69. I asked which one he clocked first, and he said the 71. I then asked if his radar gun had a history. He said No. So I then asked "So you are giving me a ticket for something of which you have absolutely NO proof?" He said Yes. I asked if he could just give me the ticket for 69 instead, since he had proof, and he said that he was going to give it to me for 71.

According to the law, though, they are considered "unbiased witnesses." My butt...

I guess I haven't liked officers ever since one time when I got pulled over with a passenger in my car (we were both high school aged), the officer asked me "What would you do if you had to tell his parents that you killed him in a car wreck?" I was flabbergasted that he asked that question. I told him how rude I thought it was. I can't stand cops because of how cocky they are. Most of them, at least.

Too bad Trooperden isn't on this site.... My worst I've gotten was for $340. It was my 3rd one in a 12 month time span I got clocked going 46 in a 35. In court the judge reduced it to a 39 in a 35 and didn't give me any points.

$90~ for doing 79 in a 65 north of Warren, OH on route 11 about six or seven years ago. I really was going over 80, but I think he didn't want me to fight it in court.
