I bought what you were selling us about Fort Frye last year, but not so much this year. I think Huck has this team headed in the right direction, but I'm looking at them being around the .500 mark. By all indications River should be improved from last year. They were young but still upset Shenandoah... a game they had no business winning.... which tells me there is talent there. I look for them to be around .500. Good week 1 matchup which makes picking it hard. Not sure yet.

Your going to buy them by seasons end. They are much better then the the team that ended the season last season. Not as good as when they had Robinson but better then they were with Rabourn.Colton Skinner is a stud in the TriBack spread wing T.Spencer Lang is the teams most improved player. In the Beallsville and Con Valley scrimmages he scored 3 times with 2 being from 60 and 70 yar ds out.He might be the fastest kid in the league.FF returns 3 Ol who are big.Riley Dixon gained 40 lbs of muscle.Fort Frye in 2 scrimmages vs Philo and Con valley and Beallsville have outscored opponents 8 tds to zero

Fort Frye wins this one, although it might be closer than most people think. I'm just interested to see how these players that Kapono mentions fairs against stiffer competition. I don't know what Philo has, but you mentioned Beallsville is extremely, extremely small, and Con Valley didn't win a game last year.

Philo was big and strong but lacked true team speed.Still think Philo would do pretty well in the PVC maybe not MVL but PVC YES.

Philo is also D3. And if you mean doing pretty well being 2nd or 3rd place then ok. I don't have to know what Philo has to say Monroe Central would probably win by 30. They'd probably be anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the PVC, and in my opinion the PVC is down.

As for Fort Frye, then they should be no less than 8-2 this year. Their ooc schedule favors them and there isn't anybody they shouldn't be in a game with including Monroe.

Yea I have Fort Frye 8-2 or 7-3 with at worst 6-4.Green,Waterford,and River Valley are really bad.The 1st 4 games are soft.I see them being 4-0 going into week 5 with Monroe at home. All PVC are an injury away from a drastic change in record. PVC Pick Em deadline Aug 27

Has a qb stepped up to fill the void for ffhs? Do they have any depth? Seems like thrusts always really thin at all positions.

Well until the end of the last scrimmage the team was rotating QB every play.Sophmore QB Shon Smith is loaded with a ccannon but has had problems with fumbled snaps.Still think he is the future.Fort Frye would be better off this season if Watson goes down then last season when they got stuck with Rabourn,

Fort Frye played D2 Vinton County tonight in the jamboree. They looked pretty good winning the varsity 2 qts 17 to 0.The Cadets did not run the ball as well as they have been but did score early on a 13 yard td run by Colton Skinner. They threw the ball well all night.Eddie Watson looks great even tho he threw a pick but believe Shon ran the wrong route.Vinton County did get a goal line stop and Fort Frye kicked a FG.Matt Klinger looks like a nice kicker.Young Chandler Lang was all over the place on both sides of the ball.Fort Frye has gobs of young talent a good group of core Srs.Chandler Lang had 4 catches 82 yards.Fort Frye looks very good at running and passing the ball they can just do so much. The defense did not let any team in the redzone in any of the 3 scrimmages.Anyone have any scrimmage results for River???

Bishop Donahue scored 3 or 4 on River. Not what I expected. I had been reading that BD was improved and going to be good this year, but they are no Wheeling Central. Kinda disappointed in River. But it is a scrimmage so for whatever that is worth.

After talking to people who watched River vs Waterford and BD I am thinking Fort Frye takes this one.I heard RB 18 is a beast RB.Caldwell is an average qb with talent.Heard River D is awful.FF 34 @ River 14

Fort Frye needs to keep a level head. They have played some weak teams and even if they open up 4-0 they still hav proved nothing.

i heard the FF defense was bad against Vinton County.
i know they didn't let up any points, but I heard they were out of position on a lot of plays and VC couldn't capitalize on them. Take that for what it's worth. Best of luck to both teams this year.
Is this game week?
My prediction: FFHS 27 - RHS 13

The majority of River's team is sophomores. Donahue is mostly seniors from a team that just missed the playoffs. Probably will be the 2nd best team River plays all year behind MC (I've seen scrimmages of all 10). What exactly were you expecting?

Wow if you don't make the playoffs in Wv you are bad.Almost half the teams in WV make it.Ps Jcrazy how did FF do bad vs Vinton on defense??? They let up 22 total yards and 3 1st downs one being on a pass interference.

Maybe bad is a bad description. I heard they were out of position on a few plays and vc couldn't capitalize.

Anyone here coming to Hannibal on Friday. I thought I would be kind and inform anyone that is of the potential traffic issues for anyone coming.
You may want to leave earlier than planned if you are coming. New security checks are being tested at the gates of the game and will take a while to get through. Recent bomb threats are the reason for these new procedures. Because of this the gates will open at 4:00 instead of 4:30 to help keep the lines small and not backed up. I'm sure everyone will hate this on Friday night, but it's a direct result of multiple bomb threats.

For some reason they have all kinds of bomb threats on the river. A lot in recent years at Powhatan Elem. I don't get it either.
