Not sure about Newcomerstown. They finally rebounded to 5-5 after a long and bleak drought. Don't know what that really means though. Caldwell is what it is. What you saw last year is what you'll get this year. Just a tough mentality football team.

I'm fulling expecting a Caldwell win, but with it being the first game of the season and a road game, i'm not really expecting a blowout or anything. Something around a 2 TD win. Hopefully they don't stumble, because it seemed last year Caldwell never really played well on the road last season, at least not as well as they normally did at home. I'm thinking Newcomerstown had a decent QB last year, but I'm not sure if he's still there or if he graduated.

I went to the playoff game last season. Even though the game was a disaster for Caldwell, they showed that have a good nucleus coming back. Newcomerstown has never been a gimme.

Newcomerstown returns the majority of their 5-5 team from last year. 13 seniors and 12 juniors. Going to be a big year for them.

I'm still not really sure what to expect from this game. Newcomerstown is no easy win. Caldwell needs to come ready to play from the very beginning or they very may well start out the season 0-1.

Final
Caldwell 29
Newcomerstown 21

Probably closer than it should have been. Newcomerstown only really had one sustained drive. Scored again right before the half after Caldwell fumbled a punt at about their own 20 yard line, give or take a few yards. Scored late in the game after they completed a deep jump ball. I know its early, but Newcomerstown didn't look to bad. They've got a good receiver in the Sanchez kid, and their QB was very athletic and elusive. Caldwell was able to get pressure in the backfield pretty much all night, but had a tough time containing their QB once he scrambled.

Caldwell's ground game looked good. Along with Snodgrass, Rossiter looks like he could be a pretty good RB. Not the biggest kid, but he seems to have some pretty good speed and agility. Was able to get outside on the edge quite a few times in the game, and ran hard when they gave it to him between the tackles. Sayre looked good too. They didn't throw it very often, but I believe they completed a good amount of the ones they did. I'll post some stats once I get them.
