I'm not too confident the redlegs will pull out a W today......... I could see the Marlins beating Bailey like a drum.

He was getting back into the batters box, looking down, getting into his stance. Then, all of a sudden, ejected.

He was definitely arguing the previous pitch, as much as I love Votto, he argues calls a little too much

Yeah, he was talking, but like Cowboy said he did it the correct way. He didn't show the umpire up. He didn't get in his face. He didn't delay the game to argue the call. He just let him know he didn't like it while going through his routine.

votto is pretty sly about his jawing at home plate umpires. this guy didn't want to hear any of it apparently and ran him.
I hope Homer gets that call, high outside is usually a call pitchers don't get especially when the catcher is set up down the middle.

Unless he said something about the umps mother the language shouldn't be an issue.

Thru 3 innings, there have been no baserunners with less than 2 outs for either team Amazing that Homer is averaging 21 pitches per inning when he retires the first two each inning. Marlins doing a good job getting his pitch count up. I hope the Reds bullpen has another productive day in them.

Only 17 pitches in the 4th for Bailey, for a total of 80. He'll be doing good if he can get thru the 6th with no runs and not go over 115 pitches.

Marlins defense helps out by giving the Reds a lead-off runner in the 4th.

Then Gomes goes nowhere as the Reds' "hit it out" strategy fails. I hope the Edmonds type catch to rob Edmonds of a homer isn't a harbinger of what Edmonds plate performance will be if you liken it to Bruce's whose best homerun bid in July was foiled by a similar catch.

Homer has just a 9 pitch inning in the 5th, thanks to his own failure to get a glove on the 2-out chopper that Cairo makes a nice play on for the 3rd out.
