He was actually suffering from anxiety/depression, and video games were his way of occupying himself. Could have been worse - at least he wasn't drinking or using drugs, which is probably pretty common.
That's okay, knowing the facts on things is hard sometimes.

He isn't obligated to play. If he found something he loves more than football more power to him.

Very odd as I thought he would be a solid back up for Gore for a while. Has he given any insight as to why he retired?
