Was just talking about this at the office, little girl is amazing!!

I watched this live. It brought tears to my eyes--one of the most unbelievable things I've seen.

I can never understand what they're saying. I don't think I understood more than 2 or 3 words in that video. If any? Was it in English? Her voice is really good, though.

It was not in English. She sang in Italian.

She'll win the competition because for once the child star that gets the "awww, she's so cute and sweet" vote actually has talent. And, once again, people are more amazed by hearing an aria because crap on the radio pales in comparison. She does have an amazing voice for a 10 yr old, but if she were to try and sing pop you would notice the difference. The reason you can't discern words is because she can hold and hit notes but isn't yet mature enough to form actual words - she basically got up and sang a register.

OK, done with rant because child stars that have no business in these competitions annoy me. She is remarkable.

That's my choice of what I've seen so far...sort of a Blue Man Group type thing. I think they'd be very successful in Vegas. Jackie, as good as she is, is neither a Vegas act nor old enough. But she'd be a nice gimmick in actual operas as a kid that young who can sing. Even in a garbage production people would go to see the prodigy.

But a 10 yr old girl singing opera is going to be tough to beat. Neal Boyd won a few years ago singing opera and he wasn't even good.

I agree though, defying gravity is the best Vegas act

No, I think it was because her diction was horrendous. Yeah, saw her youtube singing the national anthem and it's just that she isn't capable of singing in Italian yet, which is understandable.

Here's Sarah Brightman singing the same song. I'm not saying this girl isn't talented, she is. But if a comparable 10 yr old girl attempted Whitney Houston you'd be considerably less impressed. Opera singers have done very well in these type of competitions because it's unexpected and most have no basis for comparison other than (mostly) grossly inferior pop singers.
