since it seems we have followers on here from the MAC schools, how is everyones team looking? I know there are some people on here from Toledo, Akron, Kent, BG, OU, not sure of Miami. Who do you expect to win the MAC? Do you think your team can knock off anyone on their schedule from the "Big 6" conferences?

I'm a Toledo fan, hoping for a winning conference record. OOC games include Arizona, at Purdue, Wyoming, and at Boise State. Pretty brutal for a young team.

The QB situation is a big question mark, Eric Page should be one of the best in the MAC at WR/everything else possible to get touches.

Toledo could return to the top of the MAC quickly and stay for a while if Beckman sticks around. I doubt he will be here longer than 5 years though. BG also has a pretty good young coach and it would be nice to see them get back to the level that Urban Meyer had them at.

Outside of Wyoming, Toledo's schedule is legit. Purdue isn't a guaranteed loss but will be tough. Arizona is coming to the Glass Bowl? I may have to go check that out.

Just looked at BG's schedule and it seems a little bit more managable. At Troy, at Tulsa, Marshall, and at Michigan.

Ohio travels up to Columbus on the 18th for their big OOC game... last time they met in 2008 OSU didn't take the lead until the beginning of the 4th quarter. OSU is better than that this year, I just hope we can make a game out of it again.

Rest of the OOC is pretty uneventful (Marshall, LA-Lafayette, Wofford). I'll be angry if we lose any of those... the Pizza Bowl loss to Marshall was a choke job on our part.

Should come down to Ohio and Temple for the east... if we finish lower than 2nd I'll be angry.

The Arizona game is on a Friday the first weekend of football. As for Wyoming, they are legit. They are a middle of the road Mountain West team. They would be a top 5 team in the MAC for sure, maybe even #2 behind Temple.

BG grad and fan, all comes down to how our new QB does, if they go to a bowl I will be surprised. Also follow Miami a bit since their QB went to my high school.

Akron's OOC had Gardner Webb and Syracuse at home. Then have to travel to Indiana and Kentucky. All are certainly winnable games, with Kentucky being the least likely we will beat. The Zips have Cuse in the home opener and it should be a pretty good game. Played them tight a couple years ago. They have hired a new coach this year, Rob Ianello, who was on the former Notre Dame staff. He is supposed to be a good recruiter, but this is his first stint as head coach. Coming off a 3-9 season, I am hoping for the Zips to finish around 6-6.

The MAC got destroyed last year OOC, hopefully this year they get back to pulling off multiple upsets each of the first few weeks of the season.

Not a Miami grad, but fan of Miami...Actually Miami QB is from my town and I am friends with his family...Redhawks terrible last year, but I see them making a lot of progress this year in turning program around...If Miami can get thru their OOC schedule without serious injuries they should be ready for MAC play..Open at Florida on Sept 4th (ouch)

Toledo's key is going to be stability at the QB position and finding a compliment to Eric Page. Last season Page had Stephen Williams to take some heat off of him, but Williams is gone to the NFL and there is a lot of inexperience at the WR position. RB should be a strength as should the OLine.

I'm predicting that this is Kent's breakout year. We are going to our first bowl since 1972 and we will win it.

The MAC looked bad this first weekend of games. We lost every game we played against I-A including BG's loss to Troy. The only wins we had were against I-AA teams.

I hope week two goes better than this.

OU beat Wofford! I was a bit distressed that the score was close against a 1-AA school until the fourth quarter, but a win's a win.

That was a sad weekend. Miami actually looked like pure shit against Florida, a decent MAC team would have won that game. I'm thinking Toledo might start the year about 1-5, their fundamentals are not there.

Miami plays Eastern Michigan in the loser goes winless match up of 2010.

How bad does EMU have to be that Miami is favored over them by 16?

Kent plays Boston College and Penn State in the next two weeks. It's time for Kent to stand up and win one. We haven't beaten a BCS team since 1987, and that was lowly Kansas. (Incidentally, Kansas then hired our coach, Glen Mason, away from us. Talk about a costly victory!)

The Zips looked bad against Syracuse. I thought the run defense was ok, but the secondary could use some work. The offense was horrid. Had something like 60 yards of total offense in the first 3 quarters.

We have Gardner-Webb this week.

OU didnt play very well until late. But yea a wins a win. They need to play a lot better to even have a chance in the MAC.
