We recently moved my Dad from a small town in Suthern Ahia to an apartment in NW Columbus. I handle his financial affairs (he's in the early stages of Alzheimer's) - it's been a scream getting all of his accounts squared up and moved/updated/canceled.

Time-Warner Cable serves both his old and new homes, so he had overlapping account for a month or so. We finally got things squared up on the old account, and I wrote out a check at the Columbus Service Center when we turned in the cable box.

Apparently the agent didn't add in a tax/fee when she gave me the statement - I just got a "final balance "bill from them for fourteen cents.

I could see tacking the balance on to the next month's statement, but this is a "final bill". It's going to have to cost them at least $10 to issue and mail the bill and then process the return payment. No wonder they can't afford to pay ESPN !

I'm not given to drama, but I'm going to drive down to the office on a busy day this week and pay them in person in pennies in front of a crowd - and oh yes, I will need a receipt for this as well.

Anyone else have an example of something like this? Or is TWC just that clueless?

It's 2010, how about you get with the program and go paperless! They email you your bill and it's taken out of your account automatically. That's what I do. TWC isn't wasting money sending people like you who enjoy killing trees actual mail.

my mom once wrote a final bill check for 84.68 instead of 84.86 and like 5 years later they sent her another bill for like 200$ because of late fees but atleast they ended up waiving the fees once they figured out what happen but 5 years for .18$ is a lil much.

Write them a check for $0.20 and they'll be forced to write YOU a check for the six cents you overpaid.

If it were my bill, I would. However, since I'm paying someone else's bill out of their checking account, I want the paper trail.

Dlazz - I just might do that - overpay the bill and make 'em write me a check, too. :)
