Now that Bill Davidson has retired and the school is actively looking for candidates, who do CHS fans believe should (or think could) get the job?

I've heard names like Bartholomew, Hinton, Derek Dewitt, others.

I can't believe armedforces isn't all over this one. I hope he made it over here because you could always count on him to stir some stuff up.

Why would Hinton leave?

I don't see Hinton going anywhere. Don't know much about the other guys but I hope someone gets the program turned around. Too much pride in chilli for the football program to stay down for long.

If Ron were going to leave A-C for anything but retirement, he would have 15 years ago. In fact, I believe he had the Chillicothe job offer and decided not to take it at some point in the past. I believe that Heath Hinton, one of Ron's nephews, may be the Hinton being mentioned. Has been the head coach at Marion Harding the past few years, and was the head coach at Wellston before that. An all-state player at AC, played at Glenville State and Marietta in college. Might be a very attractive candidate: has D1 head coaching experience, from the general area and familiar with coaching in SE Ohio.

Bartholomew, previously at Williamsport Westfall, took the job at Circleville Logan Elm for the 08 season. They went 10-0 in the regular and played for the region title in D3. The year before they were 0-10, this won him coach of the year. Needless to say after another playoff run this year, the folks in Circleville are very happy with their coach. I wouldn't think he would be looking to move so soon after taking the Logan Elm job. Maybe if Chilly were a D1 school.

No chance that Hinton or Bartholomew take this job, I am not even sure Chillicothe would offer because they would not be interested. I will say I hope armedforces does not make it over here, that did nothing but bash all other schools in the SEOAL and SVC, he never would say Chillicothe was bad at anything, just say what is going to happen in the coming years.

True, but it was entertaining to read. He was kinda like that radio talk show host that says something totally off the wall just to get callers.

What makes you think Bart would not take this job?

Preacher, I am basing my opinion on just hearsay from people in LE district. I really don't think Bart would go to Chillicothe from LE, he is really revered in Circleville right now and has a good 5 years of good will going on right now. I don't think they are gonna be as good next year but who knows they can surprise. I mean they lost 2 league games and were still only a last second pass from regional final. I also don't think Chillicothe is that great of a job, it is not an elite program by any means and its not a consistent winner at all. I would never say never in anything but I highly doubt it.

I actually heard tonight at the Tigers game that both Bartholomew and Hinton are up for the job. I don't know exactly but there were a lot of applicants I heard, I would have put money neither of them would have wanted the job, and I still am not 100% sure they do, but looks like it is possible.

Scott Bartholomew (Head Coach at Logan Elm)
Travis Everhart (former Unioto coach, now at Kent State)
Karl Justus (currently in the Chillicothe System)
Jeff Metzler (currently in the Chillicothe System)
Derek Dewitt (formerly at Waverly, now head coach at Waukegan IL)
Dan Cairns (Head Coach at Sidney)
Shane Wellman (formerly McClain standout, now at Goshen)
Mike Yonnotti (formerly Canal Winchester Head Coach)

Everhart is not at Kent State. He is Assistant HC at Hiram.

Don't see them Hiring Ron. Doesn't solve their problems long term.
Bart will get the job if he wants it. Great Hire.

I will reiterate that I doubt Ron would take this job now, especially since he could have had it in the past if he wanted. He is either 60 or 61 and has been at A-C since 1981, and an alum to boot. I don't think he will coach long enough to build (or rebuild, if you prefer) another program. He has pretty good talent by all accounts coming up through the system and could coach as long as he wants at A-C, go well over 300 wins (I think he is around 290 now), and retire after more winning seasons from the program he built. I'm not saying it's impossible he would coach elsewhere, but it seems highly unlikely.

The list came from me on another board (not TOB). It's 100% accurate and received from the district.

Also, Hinton may want to coach CHS because he has grandsons in the system (albeit still in grade school), but building a program for them to play in could be attractive to a guy who's pretty much done everything you can do in coaching.

It appears they will take their time to find a coach:

Interesting. I'm surprised more AC fans who are still around the program haven't gotten in on this thread. He has done nearly everything you can do though, so maybe he needs the challenge of building something new. That's a very good list of applicants though, so no shortage of good candidates.

Is that the Same Karl Justus that coached at Meadowbrook and from there went to Lancaster?

LOL..well..Hinton's the one that applied. Sure can't blame Chilli if he's the route they want to go with. Of course..just b/c he's applied..doesn't mean he'll accept either.

I have heard that Amanda has a levy coming up in the spring that might affect football if it fails (don't know if this is true). Hinton may just be covering his bases in case the levy fails. Although I would think Chillicothe would want a coach in place by then, but they might be willing to wait for Hinton to make a decision.

At least without armedforces over here we don't have to read a three page post about what Chilly's record and who they played every year since 1942.

Don't think that's a surprise to anyone. Does there seem to be a front runner out of the 3?
