No surprise at the top 2, but Florida at #3? WOW. I know there's a lot of talent on the team but I didn't think they'd start the year off this high in the coaches poll. Can't wait for that week 5 matchup against 'Bama.

LOL at Florida. Won't even be in the top 10 at seasons end.

Pretty high for a team that lost THE TIM TEBOW. Personally I think this is more a gesture toward the top teams in the SEC and shows a slight lack of confidence in Boise State

I have a feeling that when the more informed sports writers vote in the AP Poll that Boise will likely be a bit higher (unless they're influenced by this poll coming out first). I usually trust the AP Poll more since the people voting in it actually get to watch most of the teams in the poll play. It's not just a bunch of SID's who don't ever see anyone other than their own school play.

Florida does seem a bit high as does Texas to me, but I don't think that anyone outside of Ohio State, Alabama, and Boise State has done enough in recent years and has enough coming back to warrant a top 5 ranking. A lot of these teams play each other. Just remember, this is a preseason poll, things will shake themselves out as the season progresses.

That is crazy. Florida lost Tebow, the top 2 WR's, top 2 LB's, DE Cunningham, kicker, kick returner, and 5 NFL drafted juniors. There are 4 new coaches, including a new DC to replace Charlie Strong. I've had a gut feeling all year missing Charlie will cost us a win.

From Stewart Mandel's Twitter:

Overrated in coaches poll: No. 3 Florida, No. 14 Penn St., No. 16 LSU, No. 19 Arkansas (???), No. 20 FSU

Underrated in coaches poll: No. 5 Boise St, No. 11 Oregon, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 24 Utah, NR Notre Dame, NR UConn

Didn't even notice that Cincinnati is unranked. That's a joke.

The Coaches and AP Preseason Poll's are important for teams ranked out of the top #15 and out of the top 25 all together. There have been a couple teams whose preseason rankings cost them a shot at the national title, namely Auburn and UC. There is a lot of ground for teams int aht range to overcome to surpass schools above them.

Which is exactly why there should not be a poll until about week 6.

^^^Agreed. About half of the teams in this poll will fall flat on their face before the season is over.

I agree with the premise - polls shouldn't start until later in the season. But preseason rankings didn't cost Auburn or Cincinnati. Those teams would not have been voted into the title game over the teams that made it even if they had only done one poll at the end of the season to determine who would play for the title.

Biased, but don't understand VPI's ranking. I'd be surprised if the finish in the final top 10.

What does UC have to do to be ranked in the preseason? Win back to back Big East Titles, Returning one of the best Offenses in the country largely intact (actually a little better than last year if you ask me), and return a better defense... Check all three of those and still nothing.

September 4th UC will once again start proving the critics wrong.

Maybe Ohio State won't be in the Top 5 after September 11th either

UC is going to get fucked up by Oklahoma

I think UC will play the Sooner tough...UC offense is going to score on people....Collaros is going to have a great year....He can beat you with his feet or his arm. I really think UC will win the Big East for a 3rd year in a row.

UC should be ranked. I also look for them to win the Big East for the 3rd year in a row. They have the tough teams in conference at home. Offense should be as good as anyone's

Which means the only tough conference game they have at home is Pitt. Fail. WVU and UConn on the road.

Cincinnati should be ranked. Still, they are going to get raped by the Sooners.

SEC leading the way with 6 teams followed by the ACC with 5.

I like Florida's chances against any team in the country outside of a game at Alabama.

How is Alabama not ranked as the unanimous #1? I don't get that at all.........I also think Florida will be a lot better than most think, Urban can just reload on a yearly basis.
