Question for you guys:

Over the past 2 weeks, we've received several dozen calls from a debt relief agency, offering to help us restructure credit card debt, etc. We're not interested. We've asked to be placed on their "Do Not Call" list multiple times. We're also on the state/national do not call lists. They continue to call us.

When we ask for the name of the company on whose behalf they're calling, they hang up. When we ask for a written copy of their do not call registry, they hang up. When we ask to speak to a supervisor, they hang up.

These calls are getting out of control. We've filed complaints with the FTC and FCC. Is there anything else we can do to get this to stop?

Caller ID is all I need. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer.

I would think you would be the best person to answer this question, and since you obviously don't have an answer I would say there is nothing you can do. I get them daily at our work and most call from "unknown number", so even if I wanted to report them, I really can't.

If you think you can deal without it, lose the landline. We got rid of ours about two years ago and have seen a significant reduction in unwanted calls.

This and don't give your cell number out to any companies or anything that you think will call you in the future.

Got rid of a land line once and I still use that number for any forms I fill out.

I typically let them go through their whole spiel, but I don't listen to a thing they say. Sometimes I even put the phone down. When they get done I tell them I wasn't paying attention and ask if they can repeat the entire thing. After you do that a couple of times they'll realize they're wasting their time and quit calling. After all time is money for them and the longer you can keep them on the line the more money it costs them.

When they call just waste their time. Lead them along for as long as you can like you're really interested and then tell them to fuck off.

We probably can't go without the landline--Mrs. FFT needs a local, non-cell number for work purposes, so we're stuck with it. We tried not answering, we tried letting them talk, we tried just about everything--they just keep calling, generally at least once a day. This is insane.

You could try getting an air horn and blasting their ears every time they call. (depending on how close your neighbors are)
