Ohio University voted #1 school in Satisfaction and Overall Happiness with choice and #2 Party School in the Nation.

As a student there I feel that these ranking are very accurate! Go Bobcats!

I'll say it for sleeper since he hasn't posted yet:
paraphrase: congrats on not being able to get into ohio state, enjoy your parties while we enjoy our parties and our jobs
(note: i don't personally condone or condemn sleeper's beliefs lol).

I will say this about OU.
Between my ex-girlfriend and having a few friends in Athens I spent about 15 of my weekends last year in Athens.
Compared to OSU this is what I saw:
A lot more friendliness at parties. You didn't have to exactly know someone to get into a party, whereas at OSU if you don't know someone you're going to get a hard time (at least the parties I go to)
Cheaper bars
More attractive girls per capita lol

Went to both schools....my observations. OU has a much better house party scene (except the frats. I fucking hated the greeks at OU save the Pikes) - people were more trusting and very few fights. Ohio State had a better bar scene and, obviously, much more to do than Athens. I only went to a handful of house parties at tOSU since I was over 21 when I attended but it generally seemed that someone got pissed off at somebody at some point and a scuffle seemed to always break out.
Girls, well, I don't know how you can compare a student body of 50,000 to one of 20,000; The numbers are going to favor tOSU. Factor in the ladies in the Arena district (I know, not campus) and Ohio State isn't touched by anyone in the state.

I don't think Sleeper has been back since "The Decision."

Most people at OU hate the frats. We have a rather small greek population to begin with compared to most schools, it's pretty much irrelevant around here.Mohican00;440780 wrote:Went to both schools....my observations. And I'm sure frat popularity changes from year to year but the overall problem is greek life is huge on campus. Far too big for its enrollment

Miami trumps both when it comes to the ladies. I agree about the OU students being more friendly though. I remember walking at OU with my buddy, and these group of guys asked my friend to borrow a cigarette, he gave them exaggerate, we struck a convo with them, and they ended up inviting us to a party.
If that same scenario occurred(one group crossing paths with another group) at Miami or OSU chances are there would have been a verbal or physical altercation.

eh, ok, I disagree but that's a hard one to argue. Only went to Miami a few times when I was young (like 15) so my opinion of the school is considerably limited.

I've been here for the past 6 years (undergrad and grad), and I'd say that it has been lukewarm popularity at best, probably the most popular around 2005-06 and downswinging since then. They were trying some sort of general recruitment campaign with the Interfraternity Council (I was on a committee with the head of it so I had to sit through it beforehand and offer my opinion) but it was very confusing and no one related to it, so that didn't exactly help them.
I worked as an RA of freshmen for 2 years, and as an RA for sophomores 1 year. It's amazing how many rush as a freshman, and how many are actually still active members that next year. It drops off a TON.
Luckily they all go to one bar (Crystal) so that leaves the rest of the university to enjoy the other 20.

Well maybe things have changed. I haven't been a student there in 8 years and if things have dropped off then I think it's a good thing. No offense to those that stuck with it but it was almost as if you HAD to rush in order to have fun your frosh and soph years. Find your comfort zone and do your own thing

His absence is the only reason this thread has been able to have discussion and everyone rationally talk about the pros and cons of various schools in the area. It's actually kind of refreshing.
