Good news. I just wonder who's spot he is going to take?

Why didn't the Reds make a trade for a reliever?
Oh yeah Roldis Chapman is in relief bringing 103

Unless there is an injury, probably nobody's spot. The more pressing question, is who's spot does Bailey take? He will be back sooner than Chapman will be up. My guess is unless Springer tanks or someone else gets hurt or sucks for a good 7-10 days in a row, Chapman will be here September 1st at the earliest.

Agreed. Already a strong 12-man staff right now. Izzy in AAA. Del Rosario and Fisher are also there. Jared Burton, in-case nobody has noticed, is making a case to be back. Chapman is STILL there. Harang and Bailey also still in the wings. The last thing the Reds needed was another reliever, or any type of pitcher, who wasn't a MAJOR upgrade over someone currently in the mix.
A bat is another story...

I don't think Bailey will stick in the majors. I think Volquez will end up in the pen as well. He isn't locating well enough to be in the rotation, I think at some point he will contend with Wood or Leake for a spot. I think Leake will stick because he can simply get batters out, he needs time to rest and minimize innings. Leake will probably be skipped a start when Bailey gets called up. When Wood is ready for a break, Leake will pitch again. Hopefully late August early September we will have a definitive five.

Harang was pitching well right before going on the DL.

They may not stick in the majors, but there are 2 months left, and they are certainly part of the discussion. Until rosters expand, those spots are golden. No way Chapman gets one before September 1st...

Chapman will be on the roster before Sept 1st if he continues to dominate. If not, he can't be on the playoff roster.

Chapman HAS to be on the playoff roster...good God.
It'll be zero risk bringing him up in late August.....the reward is a thousand times greater than the risk

If Chapman comes up, Bray or Smith go down and wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs. Not a huge risk, but there is one if Chapman looks like Rick Ankiel. Definitely a risk you have to take. With the days off in the playoffs Arthur should be able to go every game anyways so if Bray is not there not a huge loss. Got to get there first though.

Bray would definitely be the odd man out with Chapman being another lefty. I like Bray but definitely not a big loss.

Saw Chapman last night in Columbus. I've been to a probably 15 MLB games over the last 10 years and too many minor league games. Last night was the first time I've been in awe of someone. Dude just throws smoke. He came in for the save against the Clippers and the first guy flew out to opposite field on his first pitch. Next two batters just looked foolish against him. Hit 103 mpg on consecutive pitches and was consistently around 98-100 for his 12 pitches or whatever he threw.
Pretty cool to witness in person.

I'd agree. Bray is solid, but let's not kid ourselves. Chapman can be a shut down reliever vs. lefties AND righties.

Anyone could look like Rick Ankiel at any time. Ankiel was called up for bullpen work just after turning 20....next season pitched 175 innings (as a starter 30/31 games) and fanned 193 hitters..........went to playoffs and had 9 wild pitches in about 5 or 6 innnings of 2 total games...nothing about it made sense.
What ever happened to Ankiel mentally is Steve Sax and Mackey Sasseresque.......who else had this happened to as a pitcher and how does being brought up correlate to it? David Price and Adam Wainright look to be more of a similar comparison IMO.
